"George... George, sweetheart, please, just wake up already..." The crying woman stop talking, being interrupted by a sob.

Joji's eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the near blinding light of the mostly white room. The first thing he saw was a window, next was a distressed woman who he recognized. Yet, he just couldn't place who she was.

The third thing he recognized was a multitude of tubes and wires throughout his body. And he saw a light blue gown covering the parts of his body without a blanket. A hospital.

He tried lifting up his arm, but it didn't work out well, his movement was restrained by the various tubes and injuries littering his body. He now recognized the woman. His mother, of course it's his mother, how could he forget her?

She carefully, but tightly, wrapped her arms around him, avoiding the still healing gashes and scarring cuts. "What time is it? Am- am I late for school? I have a history test today, I can't miss it, if I do then I'll have to make it up during my lunch period but I have projects and essays to work on, and by then we'll have started a new topic-"

"George, it's March, I don't think you'll be taking that test any time soon." A doctor stated, walking in the room. His mother said nothing, she only cried with a smile on her face.

"I suppose dad's not here, is he?" George asked, his response met with ashamed silence from his mother.

He saw another figure in the corner of the room, his eyes redder than a rose, although he was just as beautiful as one. It was his turn to hug Joji, silent tears soaking his shoulder.

The teen showed clear signs of injury as well, a look of immense guilt on his face. "This is all my fault, Joji. I'm just so glad you're okay. I was so worried that... that you wouldn't..." his speech stopped abruptly, his voice wavering towards the end.

He turned to Joji's mother, gently putting a hand on her shoulder. "Go home, Mrs. Miller, you've been here a while. I can stay with him."

At first his mom protested, saying she wouldn't leave him after he just woke up, but he convinced her. He took her place beside the bed, turning his attention to the doctor. "I'm going to come back in a second, let me get my nurse." The middle aged man said, leaving the two along and closing the door.

George did his best to move over on the bed, wanting his friend to sit next to him. The teen chuckled, stroking Joji's cheek as he sat on the edge, extremely cautious not to hurt him. "Will you tell me what happened?" George asked him, staring at his gorgeous face.

"I was driving somewhere with you... I-I don't remember where, that much is fuzzy, but the roads were icy. I tried to drive carefully, but there was another car going fast... way too fast... maybe around sixty or seventy. We hit ice, they weren't paying attention and crashed into us. You got the worst of it, because you didn't have a seatbelt and the car hit your side after we spun out of control. I was knocked out for two weeks, I still have a bad concussion and two broken ribs. The first thing I did when I woke up was ask for you. It was all my fault, this whole mess. You being here is a terrible accident."

Realization hit George like a brick. He rested his head on his friend's shoulder, feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of the information. "Is your car alright?" Joji asked, earning a small chuckle form Ian.

"Far from it. I'm getting a new one though, I'm thinking of a 70's Ferrari maybe. What do you think?" Ian responded.

"I think that's an excellent plan, as long as it makes you happy." Joji said. They stayed in silence for a while, enjoying each other's company. "Hey, Ian, can I kiss you?"

"Any time." He answered immediately, lightly placing a hand on Joji's cheek and kissing him softly. "Sorry for getting your ass into an accident."

"It's fine. How long have you been in my room?" He said softly, his voice hoarse from not being used for so long. There was silence in the room except for the beeping of machines and the faint chaos of the rest of the hospital.

"Every day after school since I woke up. Max and Chad would visit a lot also. I think they're gonna be a couple."

"Do you regret it? Caring about me, that is. I mean, if you didn't care, I'm sure you'd be a lot better off right now, and I can't imagine the toll it's taking on your grades."

"Definitely not. I'm sorry that I'm telling you under these circumstances, but I've got to let you know that I'm entirely in love with you. And despite what you may think, love's no accident."

This is so gross and cliche and corny I'm sorry lmao
BASICALLY in case anybody's confused, the night that Ian and Joji were driving home from that date at the shitty friendly's with the lesbian waitress, they got hit by a car and everything that happened afterwards happened in Joji's head while he was in a coma. Whoops.
Epilogue will be up soon.
