A/N: I'm putting this one in here because I feel like a girl somewhere need to read this. It isn't about love or anything just a little something to the girls like me who hear the phrase "... for a Black girl."

My blackness isn't depended on your definition I don't straighten my hair Because I hate my kinks and coils Or to reach the white standard I straighten my hair
Because I love the way my dark hair Falls around my melanin blessed skin I don't pronounce my words correctly To denounce my blackness
And bring me closer to white standard I pronounce my words correctly Because I refuse to decrease The size of vocabulary Only to increase my chances of me being black My blackness does not depend on How I wear my hair
How I pronounce my words The music I choose to listen to I am black because I can trace my ancestry Back to 1963 to march on Washington
I am black because I can trace my ancestry
Back to 1865 to the fields of Georgia and the civil war I am black because I can trace my ancestry Back to the motherland
Where my family rules a kingdom So here's on for all those "You are beautiful black girl" "You are smart black girl" "You are strong black girl" So this one is For a black girl
