Chapter 1

Pt. 2

Apparently the Euphorians are completely oblivious to the six human soldiers that have dropped right into their laps. They are too focused on the enemy in front of them, and with the enormous cloud of black dust, all they can see are bodies headed in the same direction as they are. Which was a part of the plan the 6 drew up back on the transport.

Phase one is complete, and I haven’t heard any screaming over the come link so I assume we didn’t lose anybody from the drop. Now, we wait…we wait for the dust to settle, as the view becomes more and more clear, the friendly fire headed in our direction begins to die down. This means our comrades are beginning to see us and our chances of getting shot by our own quickly went down.

The dust settled…the gunfire had ceased, it was at this time the Euphorians had also stopped, they’re beginning to realize what was going on.

Suddenly two large circular disk with one inch holes around it, transform from under the forearms of my biomech suit, the same thing occurred to the suits of my five comrades who had made the drop with me. They are special machine guys with an interface that is linked to the mainframe computer inside our suits and accurately pinpoints every enemy target within a certain radius.

The Euphorians are in a state of shock, the kinda of shock you get that disables you from making a move for a second or two. A delay in your physical actions because your brain is trying to process not only what is happening as well as what to do, which in turn doesn’t allow it send relays to your muscles to react. Whether you’re human or alien it happens to everyone.

It’s within this delay that I speak to the voice activated guns hanging from my wrists. “Fire” immediately after I utter the word from my mouth, simultaneously the guns on all of our suits fire an array of blast. Euphorian soldiers begin to fall left and right, there must have been about 500 soldiers. The smart technology that our suits were made out of made it impossible for the alien scum to escape death, each alien was targeted and tracked by our bullets, so even as they run they are still struck down in their tracks.

The guns fire for about five minutes, orchestrating a plethora of smoke and black dirt in the air. When our guns run out of bullets, we wait for the dust to settle to see the damage we had done…It’s a blood bath, I walk through battlefield laced with dead bodies, and the bluish green slime the Euphorians call blood. It’s disgusting, I can’t help but find myself absolutely appalled at the very being of this race of life forms.

Heavy, Slade, and R.E., walk through the battlefield stabbing all the fallen Euphorian soldiers in the head, to assure they’re death as Me, 6, and Flash approach the barricade that was protecting our troops. Out of the crouch stands General Carmichael, standing about 6 ft. even, he had an oval shaped head, the kind that you would figure if not for his helmet he’d have a baldness that extends just above his side burns that connect to the five o’clock shadow on his mushy cheeks, indicating he and his team had been out in battle for at least a week now. He’s a pudgy guy, but not fat, just some areas such as his face and stomach look softer than most men in the army, but I’ve seen him with his shirt off and it’s very evident he spends a lot of time in the conditioning room, he just can’t get rid of that gut for some reason.

“Boy aren’t you guys a sight for sore eyes” he says as he approaches us, taking his helmet off revealing that he is somewhat bald. “What took you guys so long?” He salutes us…Do we out rank him? I don’t know, but he definitely has no jurisdiction over us…Hell if he had saved our lives as many times as we have saved his and thousands of other human soldiers, I’d salute too. 6 steps up to receive his salute and says jokingly “Sorry we stopped for a cup of joe, gotta start the morning off right!” While 6 looks at me with a smirk, the general had an absolute look of confusion.

Ya see about 24 years ago our scientist found that the soil of Euphoria was very life sustaining and could grow more than just plants. In an effort to keep from repeating our mistakes that lead to the death of earth, they engineered a technology that allowed us to take the parents DNA and create human babies using the natural substances of Euphoria. Every child from then on was created that way, it was the “New” natural birth, we call them Homebreeds. I was one the very last babies born naturally. That was the unique thing about our team, we were among the last of the soldiers of the original birth, we were the last “earth grown humans” even though we had never even been there. We don’t operate under the strategy as the human army, we work with them but not for them. Our orders come straight from the top. Are there other groups like us? Yes, but are they as good as us?...That has yet to be proven.

Finally Carmichael asks “What the hell is a cup of Joe?” 6 laughs and says “don’t worry about it, you homebreeds wouldn’t understand.” We loved teasing the homebreeds about earth, we only knew what coffee was because our ancestors told us about it, none of us had ever even tasted it. Certain things the earth humans held dear such as coffee and paper, died with earth because while Euphoria was abundant with life, there were certain crops and plants it simply cannot grow.

We walk away feeling triumphant, but only for a moment. It’s 8:00 am and our day and battle have only just begun…
