Chapter 2

*Theresa's POV*

I heard the front door open and in came Dad and his wife Maxine with hands and arms full of of bags. It look like they bought the whole damn mall. "Daddy?..What is all this?" I asked with a confused look on my face.

"All this..." he asked pausing to catch his breath. "All this is for you baby girl."

Ha see what I mean... "Why and what exactly is it? I could've sworn my birthday was about six months ago.."

As he still struggled for air trying to talk and move bags from Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Maxine butted in, " We , so we went shopping for you..A."

Bitch whet!? I just bought this shirt like 2 weeks ago..! And I bet that heffa feel like she actually accomplished something by saying that.

Uncle Richard appeared from upstairs to retrieve more of all the things he let the she-devil of a wife pick out for me. " Unc. you really didn't have to do all this though... you know I'm not a very materialistic person. I coulda just as easily been given some cash."

"Well Babygirl Im jus lookin out for you and like I told u before I just wanna to have the best as well as be the best. And since today is officially the day you leave our little abode," He stopped to perform the ugliest pretend cry, "You've made me the proudest and happiest adopted dad ever!" Yup.. that last part got me forreal.

He knew I was a sucker for the right words and i shed a little tear.

" Well I couldn't do it without you. I've got some errands to run today but hopefully I'll get done early, so we can spend some time before my flight leaves tonight. "

" But I don't get why we couldn't take a road trip you know.. father daughter bonding time?" he tried to reason with me and had so much hope within that childish grin.

"No. You know how much doing things on my own mean to me so you and her are both gonna stay behind enjoy being adults. Maybe you can even start being nasty with each other again and walk around the house butter-ball naked.?" God Forbid... I mumbled to myself.

"Haha..! Who said we stopped?"

"Alright!.. that's enough. I really didnt need them visuals."

I walked out of the room after that. I checked my phone again and it read 10:12

I been procrastinating all morning. I still needed to pick up my boarding pass and stuff, so I decided to call Jaccori to get a ride. I knew it would take him another 30 min to get there so I flatironed my hair and got all my paperwork together. When he got there, he honked twice. Usually he calls when he pulls up, so I knew something was wrong.

"Damn Ma, I know you aint call me here to do what I think you finna do.. so what is it?"

"I need you to take me somewhere real quick."

"Why cant you drive..."

I was right. He seemed tense and irritated. I knew exactly what this was about but I didnt have time for his petty games and pitty party.

"Dont act like that. It's important."

"Aight. Where we going?"

" I need to run by the airport before 11."

Before I was strapped in good, this niggah sped off like he was crazy. I gave him a WTF look, but his eyes stayed on the road. I know I was rushing but I damn near flew through the seat he was driving so fast.

"Jaccori LeAnthony Howard.. You bettah slow this damn car down right now! You choose today to act stupid and drive like your star raving crazy. Niggah you got another thang coming. You think I care that you in yo feelings? I will get out right here and walk the rest of the way before i sit up and deal with yo stankin' ass attitude ......"

*Jaccori's POV*

So Im sittin here thinkin to myself, Why the fuck is she still rambling? I let her know I was pissed without actually saying it to her. But I couldn't handle it no more. So I did what the better half of me wouldn't have considered. I stomped the brakes, and she jerked hella hard. We parked on the side of the road, before she could say anything I gently grabbed her head and I kissed her. It went smooth at first, seemed like she was feeling it. And then she pulled away for that dreaded awkward silence. So she turns her back to me and starts doing them little things like twisting her ring around her finger. And looking out the window pretending nothing happened. I know it made her feel some kind of way.

"Look.. Im sorry. I didnt mean to go that far. But Im afraid if I dont tell you what I need to tell you today, Im not gonna get the chance to again." She never looked my way but I saw her face twitch from the side.

"Now listen. I know I've messed with your head in the past and you dont think Im good for anything sometimes, but the truth is I have grown with you and I haved never felt the way about a girl the way I feel about you Theresa..."

By this time she figured out what's going through my head. So she turns her head rolling her eyes to what she calls bullshit. She's been in this position plenty of times and she wasnt tryna hear it. So I made her listen. I grabbed her chin and looked her deep in the eyes. Man, I hate being corny but I gotta do what I gotta do.

"Aye now... Im tryna have a heart to heart with you and you acting like you dont give a fuck?.."

"I wish." She mumbled when she thought I couldnt hear.

"What was that?.."

"Nothing," she grunted, "Continue.."

I swear she is sooo difficult sometimes, but I'd never put my hands on her.

"Anyways.... I just needed to let you know I cant let you go. Nahh I Refuse. To let you get on that plane tonight. Because it's a known fact aint none of the girls I've ever been with can compare to you. They dont have your qualities nor my attention. Theresa Janelle Lockett.... I Love You."

awwww shit. I cannot believe I just said that. Is she still looking.... yup. Shit! Okay keep calm niggah, breathe. You got this. You got it all under control.

She starred at me for a little while after that. Im guessing trying to read me to see if I was lying or not. But I think she finally realized I wasn't. And turned around once more except this time she didnt make a peep. I didnt wanna push it any further so I turned the car back on and started toward the airport again. We both didnt speak a word to each other. I guess I said all I needed to say. So when we got there She stepped out calmly and went in. I didnt know if she had a ride back so I waited. It was only about 20 or 30 min before she came back out. Now it was scary cause she was smiling and she hopped in the car with no care in the world.

" So where we going now.?"

"uhh.. um... well.."

" You know what, I have a few hours of free time left... how about we go to your place.?"

Yea I think I was being tested cause she aint never not once wanted to come to my apartment. Not even when I invited her let alone her asking.

"Uh, sure." I got on the freeway and drove in the direction of my apartment but I seemed more nervous now than I did earlier. This was becoming a crazy ass day already.
