Finnian's Dear Diary

Entry 20

Dear Diary,

It's been a few years. 70 actually. But I'm still here. My hair isn't as blonde as it used to be and I might not have the power of strength I once had but. I'm still surviving and I have lived a wonderful life. It wasn't easy for a while though.

*Flash back*

After the premature death of the young master it felt like our world had been torn apart however, we don't know what the cause of his death was but one day Mr Sebastian had come home with the young master's lifeless little body. It was horrible. We all took it really hard especially Tanaka. He actually diflated permanently into a balloon and then he popped soon after and that was the end of poor old Tanaka.

A month later Mr Sebastian disappeared and Bard and I had realised we needed to move on and get a job. But in the early 1900's the world was changing because nobel families no longer needed servants and finding work at our original stations was tuff. It was a very depressing time.

Then World War I came along and things were looking up, Bard was one of the first to enlist. I was very excited for him, he loves combat. He was gonna become a war hero but... During the bloody battle of July 1916 Bard was shot in the chest multiple times. He then died from his wounds on the battlefield.

With Sebastian nowhere to be found I was the only one left to look after the manor. Everything seemed hopeless. Then I thought of something, I was alone in a giant manor all to myself, so I did what any other sensible person would do. I put the place up for sale and within days it's sold.

I became super rich. So I took everything that was important to me and said goodbye to my old life. I needed to move on but I'll never forget the place or the memories- including bad. All the beautiful flowers, the gardens, all my friends who are... Now dead. And I decided to travel the world. I saw every country.

*End of flash back*

Now years later I like to visit the graves of my old friends and I occasionally I get to see Mr Sebastian too. He hasn't changed much, in fact he looks the exact same. I wonder what his secret is.
