Blurred Voices
Tahlia

Tahlia grimaced at the condition of the apartment she was crashing at for a couple of weeks. Jade, the girl who she had befriended in a bar seemed nice and excitable enough so Tahlia popped the question.

"Can I stay at your place for a little bit?" She had asked over a round of beer pong.

Jade was sweet, immediately gushing about how she didn't have a roommate and she was happy to take Tahlia for as long as she wanted.

When Tahlia saw the mess that was Jade's apartment, she finally understood why Jade didn't have a roommate.

"It's a bit of a mess but nothing too bad." Jade said as she stepped on a sticky waffle on the floor. "Ew." She murmured, trying to get it off and chucking it in an already overflowing bin. "You can sleep in this room, if you like. It's the cleanest." She pointed to a solitary room in the corner which was, mercifully, clean. "My old roomie, Kiki left and she's like, a neat freak. I haven't gone in there since she left." Jade sounded sad but she grinned after a while.

"So Tally," she began and Tahlia reminded herself that Jade was fun and sweet and the mess of her apartment could be cleaned. "What would you like to do? It's your first time in New York, isn't it?"

Tahlia bit her lip and tried to sound nonchalant but she couldn't help the excitement creeping into her voice, nevertheless. "Oh my god, I want to visit the best bars in New York and see Central Park and the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music hall and-" she exhaled.

Jade laughed. "Slow down there, tiger." She laughed some more. "I forgot how pure Non-New Yorkers are."

"We're not all pure." Tahlia said, waggling her eyebrows and it was true. She had never consumed alcohol before and she had already been drunk twice since this morning.

Jade grinned. "Alright then, Tally babe, the night is still young. We can totally go to some of the, and I quote, 'best bars in New York'"

"Ok, I'll just change real quick."

Tahlia had packed a good amount of clothing in her two gigantic backpacks that she was forced to lug around everywhere but now, she had a place to dump it. She quickly changed into a black halter top and a mini skirt that hugged the little curves she had. Applying some gloss and touching up her eye makeup, Tahlia regarded herself in the mirror. Wow, I've changed. It was a good different though, she looked and felt more confident.

Jade was already waiting outside, changed into a crop top and wearing the kinda leggings that clung to every curve in your leg. "You're a sexy thaaang." Tahlia said and laughed at how ridiculous she sounded.

They were soon at a bar near somewhere and Tahlia ordered a Jameson from the cute bartender who wanted ID. Handing her fake ID that she had made before leaving from home, she looked around her surroundings. She spotted a gorgeous piece of hunk who was sipping quietly, ignoring everybody and everything around him.

Wow, he was hot. No, hot didn't cover it. He was beautiful. His eyes were lost and his full lips were moist from whatever drink he was having.

The bartender returned with her drink but she wasn't paying attention, she was openly staring at the tragic hottie.

"Oh, don't bother with him, sweetie." The bartender's voice cut through her daydream.

"Huh? Why? Who's he?" Tahlia asked as she stared at him again. He really couldn't care less about anybody around him as he chugged his drink down.

"That's just Twitch, he's a real asshole." The bartender continued.
