"Ohmygosh, I think that Kyle Matthews is absolutely gorgeous. I saw him at football practice the other day because I had cheer practice at the same time. Anyways, he took off his shirt RIGHT in front of me. Why, I don't know, but I wasn't complaining. His abs were amazing. It was defintely an eight-pack. I like, almost died! He was that hot. Oh, and he didn't even stink. Even though it was right after practice. I'm not even kidding." I heard my sister Christina gossiping to her best friend Lanie over the phone.
"Yeah," I snorted, "Because you can actually smell through your cheap perfume."
Impulsively, I ducked. Sure enough, a Steve Madden's pumps came whirling from my sister's room and hit the wall. "IT WAS 200 DOLLARS, YOU STUPID COW!" Christina screeched angrily before slamming the door, causing a resounding smack.
"Temper, temper," I sang loudly, a smug smile on my face. Christina howled angrily before slamming her door once again.
I walked downstairs casually, finding my mother in the kitchen making fettuchini Alfredo. "You should be nice to your sister!" she scolded, "Your sister doesn't do anything to you!"
I rolled my eyes at my mother before asking, "Where's Lance?"
"Watching TV when he should be doing his homework!"
Sure enough, when I walked into the living room, my brother Lance was watching TV. To be specific, he was watching reruns of Hannah Montana, which was something that I never knew he liked.
"So this is your dirty little secret," I said in a bored voice, examining my fingernails lightly, "You watch Hannah Montana." I said, peeking at him under my lashes.
Lance glared at me, "Tell anyone, or else," he said threateningly. All in all, we both knew that it was an empty threat. Lance would never hurt me.
"Or else what?"
Lance gave me the finger.
I gave him the finger back.
"You know, I liked you a lot better when you were in diapers," he said irritably.
"Touche," I said calmly.
"What?" he said exasperatedly, "You weren't even born when I was in diapers."
It was true. Lance was currently a senior in high school, while I was just a mere sophomore. Christina; however, was a junior.
Annoyed by his remark, I left the living room to go back to the kitchen.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
"Be a darling, and answer the doorbell." my mother said, her eyes on her prized Italian food.
"Aren't I always?" I answered her sweetly, before walking to the door and answering it.
I opened the door cautiously, hoping that it wasn't some murderer trying to kill me. Thankfully, it was just a boy that seemed to be in his late teens.
I examined him closely. The boy in question was rather hot, in a pretty-boy sort of way. With his dark blond hair, dark blue eyes, and unmistakable swimmer's body, I assumed it was one of my sister's monthly boyfriends.
I turned towards the stairs and screamed, "CHRISTINA! YOUR BOYFRIEND'S HERE!"
I heard my sister thunder down the stairs, and I glanced at the boy once again. To my shock, he was a bright shade of red.
"What'd I do?" I asked cheerfully, ignoring his obvious discomfort.
Before the boy could answer, Christina came downstairs, her eyes wide. "Zack? Is that you?"
Zack blushed, "Uh, yeah," he said, scratching the back of his head, "I was actually here for Katrina Forrest." he said, saying my name after glancing at a piece of paper.
I scrunched my nose in confusion, "Why are you here? Who are you?" I asked.
Zack's cheeks were flaming, "Actually, I was wondering if you could tutor me. I seem to be failing Trigonometry, and Mr. Davids told me to ask you to be a tutor."
Christina pouted, "I could be your tutor," she said in a flirtatious manner.
I snorted unattractively, "Of course. Like you know what the Pythagorean Theorem is, along with SohCahToa."
Christina tossed her hair over her shoulder, "Of course I do. Pythagorean is all of the sin, cosine, tangent stuff, and SohCahToa is a squared + b squared = c squared," she answered confidently.
I shook my head sadly, "Switched, my dear sister. You have them switched. It's no wonder, why your failing Trig."
Christina scowled angrily before stomping up the steps in an unladylike fashion. Moments later, I heard an "OHMYGOSH, ZACK JAMESON IS AT MY HOUSE!"
I glanced at Zack, who was suddenly very red in the face, "Sorry about that. Christina is just, Christina."
Zack nodded faintly. I seemed to take it that he was not exactly acquainted with my darling sister.
I shook my head, changing the subject, "So, what days are you free?"
Zack replied eagerly, glad that the conversation was no longer about Christina, "I have after school practice for swimming everyday till 6. So, basically, Monday through Thursday."
"What about Friday?" I asked, mentally rearranging my schedule.
He frowned, "Guys night."
I raised an eyebrow, "Drinking time with your buddies? Or parties?" I asked
He gave me an annoyed glance, "Actually, we have those on Saturdays and Sundays."
I nodded my head approvingly, before holding out my hand, "I think I will enjoy working with you."
