Kendra opened his eyes wide in shock, he didn’t know whether to scream in horror or sigh with relief. “I must think about this my Lord, please excuse me.” He turned and walked out again and as quickly as he could, he found cover to push himself into the Bosom and into the arms of the woman he loved.
She was near the pool in their garden and he ran to her, to hold her.
“What is it?” she asked.
“They have discovered the assassin’s base from letters he found in Dinas’s room. He went there and captured the assassins and their families. Under the orders of the king he had all of them put to death…” He could see the pain in her eyes as he told her.
“Oh, my love…”
They hugged each other. He began to weep and she, feeling his sorrow, began also.
It was another day before Kendra could go back to see the king. After speaking to Salinas’s father and praying he had come to the understanding that it was something that was not under his control. He could not blame the king, who out of friendship with Kendra had done that, though abhorrent to him now, that Kendra had wanted before he had reconciled himself to no action against the assassins.
