I loved your looks
Clear skin, just like mine
And beautiful face and hair
I was a teen and had a teen crush
Pressured by all my buddies stepping up and getting girlfriends, I went on a mission to make you my first teen girlfriend
Back then it was all about looks
I thought we would look great as a couple - like the main characters in my favourite movie back then - The Notebook.
Again, my naivety had gotten the better of me
Proved by me randomly going up to you and asking you for your number.
Getting your number was thought of as brave and victorious back then but now when I think about it, I can't help but break out into laughter
On the mission of getting you to be my girlfriend, I tried changing myself, I didn't think I would be good enough for you. Tried changing my smile and the way I talk - Again, proof of my naivety
I would loose time thinking about perfect scenarios between us
I loved the fact that you came to the play production that I was in
I was on stage searching for you and I found you in hysterics
I told you how I felt about you by text during Sunday dinner.
Little did I know you had a boyfriend
Finding that out led to a terrible week - the fact that you had a boyfriend and finding out in assembly that I did not get 'The Best Supporting Actor' Award in the play
Now that I'm older, I realize that what happened between you and me was just silly. You and your beauty used to be in my head everyday and it's great that you left
