Dead to sin, Alive in Christ
You're beautiful.
Ain't nobody needs to tell you
Because Jesus already said it
You don't need those high heel shoes
You don't need to be disrespecting your body
Because some guy tells you to dress a certain way
You don't need the revealing clothes
That society tells you to wear everyday
You're growing up
Gaining feelings of desire
To be wanted, to be loved
Passion burns like a fire
Inside you and its good
But you're not using it right
You can't glorify a gift from God
With your clothes that are too tight
Forgetting the meaning of purity
Because society has drowned you
With poisonous thoughts
Simply from what the music artists do
And what their videos say
To drop it like its hot?
What happened to following God
Have you chosen for your eyes to be shut?
To be blinded by these worldly things
Making idols in your life
Replacing God's love with falseness
And then wondering why suffering cuts you like a knife
Stuck in this viscous cycle
And you think you can't come out.
Well I’ve got something to say to you.
Today. Right now. Something is happening.
And its called change.
A change that comes when you accept Jesus as Lord
And you stop trying to please the eyes of men
When you stop dressing your body to impress
But allowing the renewal of your mind time and time again
And its no longer a one day thing
When you go to church on Sunday, bit of praise, maybe sing
Then you go back to the world
Stuck in that boxing ring
And the fighting gets hard.
Your tired. You can't fight any more.
Are you gonna step back
And just let him take your fall?
I'm not saying these things
To disgrace or to shame you
Simply just saying I was stuck in that same cycle
Stuck like glue
Wondering what was missing in this life
That I had chosen to live
Dancing with sin
