Chapter 2:
"So where is this place you were talking about?" Isaac asked Evie after we've been walking for five minutes, for the umteenth time.
"Shut up. I'm trying to remember where it is. I can't when you keep complaining." Evie said in her soft voice. "We're almost there, if I remember correctly, and I usually do."
"When are we going to get there again?" Isaac asked.
"Just shut up or I'll rip out your guts." Evie said in a quiet threat.
"Easy now, we don't want to kill each other." I said.
"I do." Evie said under her breath.
"We all have to get along if we want to figure this out. And that means no ripping out each other's guts." I scolded.
Evie let out a loud sigh. "Fine." We walked a couple minutes in silence - other then Isaac being annoying - until Evie stopped in front of an abandoned barn, except it was five times bigger. "Here we are. Haven't been here for a while."
"Where exactly is here?" I asked.
"I proudly present, the Workshop." Evie said, bowing and gesturing torwards the abandoned building. It had peeling red paint on the wooden walls. She then stood up and walked to the giant wooden doors, which groaned in protest against being opened. The inside was just as dilapidated as the outside. The ceiling was ten times higher than a normal ceiling, the wooden beams traveling all the way from the floor to the ceiling. There were wooden dummies set up all over the room. There were probably six people, all either in front of a dummy or chatting with one another.
A girl with curly red hair and pale skin walked up to us. "Hey, Evie. Long time, no see. How've you been?" She said as she hugged Evie.
"I found a couple more Beasts." Evie said, nodding her head in our direction.
"Oh, so you have. Where did you find them?" The girl asked.
"The orphanage. I checked all the other kids there, but these were the only ones." Evie reported to the girl.
The girl walked over to Isaac and I. "My name is Jannet. Who might you two be?"
"I'm Isaac and this is Sa-" Isaac started.
I elbowed him hard in the ribs. "Sheila. My name is Sheila. It's nice to meet you." I held out my hand to shake.
"Her name is Safrina. She killed three people when she was six. Isaac killed his parents when he was eight." Evie corrected.
I slowly put my hand down and looked at the ground, blushing with embarrassment and anger. "I would prefer to be called Sheila, if you wouldn't mind."
"Alright, Sheila. What's your ability?" Jannet asked.
"My ability? Oh, yeah. I have telekenetic abilities." I told Jannet.
"What about you, Blondy?" She asked Isaac.
"Ice." Isaac said with no emotion.
"What about you?" I asked Jannet.
"Me? I can control people's emotions." Jannet said.
"Who is everyone else here?" Isaac asked.
"Polar, Angie, Ralph, Ann, and Erik." Jannet said.
"So what are their abilities?" I asked.
"Polar is pyrokenetic - yes, I know it's very ironic - Angie can heal anything, Ralph can change anything into anything, like a branch of a tree into a laptop, Ann can grow or shrink in size, meaning she can be the size of a mouse or the size of this Workshop, and Erik can fly." Evie answered.
