Allison stretched her body out beside Sal. Her head was on his chest and she could hear the slow beat of his heart. She wasn't sure how long it had been since they'd made their way to his bedroom but the slow creep of the sun outside told her that soon they'd have to part ways.
Sal pulled her closer with the arm that held her to him.
She tried to remember if she'd ever felt this safe with Paul. She couldn't remember. Every second spent with him had been either getting high or way past the point of rationale decision making. She realized that none of their sexual tryst had ever been when they were both completely sober.
"Well, at least you're still here." Sal's sleepy voice made her smile. He kissed the top of her head and let his lips linger there as he took in her scent.
Allison shifted and looked up at him. He looked completely sated. She couldn't think of anything that would make him happier in this moment.
"Someone once told me not to do anything stupid, so I stayed." She smiled up at him.
She tried to sit up but he pulled her back to him.
"Let's stay here all day. Just let everything else in the world happen without us." He loved looking at her naked body and his body told her so.
"I was just going to grab a quick smoke. I'll be right back." His arousal hadn't escaped her attention and she wanted to take advantage of it. She also really wanted to feel the nicotine in her veins.
"How about, instead of getting your buzz from a cigarette you get it from me." Sal rolled their bodies together until his body pressed her into the bed.
He slid his hand down her body and let it slip between her thighs. There was no denying that she wanted him too. She placed her hands on either side of his face and pulled him toward her until their mouths met. The tenderness of her lips as they met his made him feel guilty that she'd gone so long believing that she wasn't worthy of loving someone else.
"Go slow." She whispered.
He nodded and gently kissed her lips again. Sal used his knee to spread her thighs and then slipped inside her slowly. He felt her legs wrap around him and pull his hips closer.
He imagined that being inside her gave him the same high that she got from the cigarettes that she craved.
"Thank you." Allison tried to control the emotion that hit her like a brick wall but it spilled over. She reached up to wipe the tears away from her eyes but Sal caught her hand in his before she could.
He wanted her to be vulnerable. He wanted her to know that she could be open around him. He took her other hand in his and slid them both above her head. He held them captive there as the movement of their hips synced.
He watched as she climbed to ecstasy. When he felt her tighten around him, he kissed the tears at the corner of her eye and let himself fall with her.
He wanted to stay inside her for the rest of the day but rolled to the side and pulled her close beside him.
"You deserve to be worshiped every morning for the rest of your life." His fingers grazed her hip bone as he spoke.
"It was never like this with Paul." Her words were full of regret. "I can't remember most of the times we made love."
Even though it wasn't something he wanted to hear, Sal knew she needed to come to terms with what her marriage to Paul had really been. She needed to come to that realization while she was sober and clear headed.
"I can't just walk away from him, Sal." Allison propped her self up on her elbows and looked him in the eyes. "His dad doesn't care about him. If he has to be in that hospital, he needs just a little compassion."
