11. Who Gets the Girl (Lashton Imagine)

It was band practice night. The boys had been going over new songs for a while and as their friend, you were hanging around and giving advice. It was starting to get late and Calum's mum beeped on the driveway to pick him up and soon after, Michael followed when his mother showed up.

It left just Ashton, Luke and yourself. Since you weren't sure when you were getting picked up, you called your mum. 'In 10 minutes' she told you so you helped yourself to a glass of soft drink. "Luke, my mum is picking us up in ten." You told him, you two lived only two houses away from each other. You became friends with Luke one day playing in the street and since then he introduced you to the rest of the boys and so you all became close.

"Hey man," Luke said to Ashton, "have you seen my jumper?

"Yeah, I think I saw you leave it upstairs in my room. Check there?"

Luke ascended the staircase and Ashton stood on the other side of the kitchen counter. You rested your elbows on the bench, "Juliana," he started and you cocked your head up to look at him, "I was thinking maybe... you'd like to go out with to the movies with me on Friday night?"

You heard Luke coming back downstairs, Ashton gave you a sign to not say anything. You questioned it. You wanted to accept Ashton's offer, maybe he thought it might be awkward to talk about it with Luke here.

The door bell rung and Ashton opened it. "It's for both of you!" he exclaimed after seeing my mother in the doorway. You hugged Ashton goodbye , whispering 'yes, at 6' into his ear.

You got ready, taking your hair out of the plait to give a wave effect and leaving it down. Shower finished, leggings on, oversized knit on, makeup done and you have your bag ready. You had about 10 minutes to spare when the doorbell rung. He must be early, you thought and headed down the hallway to the door. You unexpectedly opened the door to see Luke standing there in skinny black jeans and a long blue t-shirt, his hair peaking up slightly at the front of his beanie.

"Luke... hi, what are you doing here?"

"Hey, woah, you look... I.. er... I brought movies, I thought we could stay in and watch some, if you weren't busy. But you seemed to be dressed up for something, I should have called, I'm sorry."

"Wait don't be, it was sweet of you to come. Maybe another night?" You said to him.

"So what are you doing tonight anyway?" But the question was answered for itself when Ashton pulled up in your gravel driveway in his familiar truck.

"Ashton's taking you out? On a date?" he asked roughly and you gave him a slight nod.

Ashton got out of the car and up to the doorway to see Luke. They gave each other odd glances and you let them both come inside.

"So, I hear you and Juliana are dating now." Luke says firmly to Ashton.

"This is our first date, just going to see that new Jack Ryan: Shadow Recuit movie." He answers to Luke 'as a matter of fact' like.

Luke, with rage in his eyes, glares at Ashton.

"Have a problem Luke?" he questions, almost teasing but in all seriousness.

"You know damn well I have a problem Ashton, you are supposed to be my friend."

You looked at the two boys, somewhat frightened of what would come next.
"Come on Luke, lets not start something." you urge him as his hands grip into fists on his sides.

"No Juliana, this isn't right."

"Since when is it right for you to tell me who to and not to date Luke?" you throw in his face. This was getting suffocating. You didn't know what to do, but you had agreed to go out with Ashton and you didn't think it was fair for Luke to tell you not to.

"He knows I'm in love with you, I have been all this time." He says into your eyes gloomily while pointing at Ashton. He then he turns to Ashton walking right up into his face, "Out of all the girls you could go out with, it had to be mine!" He shoved him against the wall.

'Luke!" You yell in fright. He was never like this. Protective, yes but he was always sweet and friendly to you. Never aggressive, you had never seen that look in his eyes before.

"She is not yours! You didn't even have the courage to ask her out!" Ashton retorts back shoving Luke off himself.

"Luke, you love me?" you couldn't help but ask in the midst of things. You two had been friends for so long but you hadn't seen the truth. You denied feelings for him always and pushed aside any hints, but the way he said he he was in love with you gave you butterflies.

"Yes! And I want you, Irwin, to stay away from her."

"Enough! You both get out! I dont think I'll be going out with either of you right now, I'm sorry. You're acting like... just not yourselves. I can't be in the middle of this!" You say, trying to stop the problem.

You needed time to clear your head, and them going off at each other wasn't helping. You didn't want to be the crack in their friendship, but one of them would just have to get over their feelings. And you knew deep inside, which one would have to let go.
