They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So believe me when I tell you that Riverdale is the most depressing town I have ever seen in my life, and I've travelled a lot plus we've only been driving through Riverdale for about 45 seconds. It was late afternoon and it was on the dark side, a few flickering street lights were all that illuminated the streets. "Does anyone live here?" I sigh, turning to my dad in the driver's seat.

He lets out a laugh, "Quite a few actually." I notice he frowns and his hand grips the steering wheel a little harder. "What's wrong, dad?" I ask him. "I just had heard a little incident happened here on the 4th of July." He says, I think back. 4th of July was only 4 days ago and I hadn't heard of anything happening here. "What happened?" I ask him. He thinks for a few moments then speaks, "You know what Livvy? Don't worry, for now let's just focus on the new." He says

I decide to let it slide for now and look out the window. "Pop's chock lit Shoppe? What is this the 80's?" I laugh seeing the neon sign. He laughs again, "You're funny Liv," He takes a deep breath, "I'm sorry I keep doing this to you time and time again. Moving around. I know it's not fun I've just been struggling since Mum died and-" I cut him off fearing I might cry. "It's okay, Dad, I get it honestly. I'm fine. I'm always fine I love new people and making new friends." He grabs my hand and gives it a light squeeze. "You're far too good to me, Livvy."

When we arrive at our new house I can't help but gasp. It's one of the most gorgeous houses we'd ever been in. I step out of the car and grab dad and I's luggage. "Oh dad, it's gorgeous." I sigh, taking the whole view in. "I'm so glad you like it. I'm hoping we can stay here for a while in hoping I keep this job." I hug him, "You will dad I know it." As I'm about to bound into the house out of excitement my dad gently grabs my arm, "Look Liv, I think I should really tell you about the incident that happened here. It's far better you hearing it from me than from the new friends you'll make at school." He says. I give him my full attention, suddenly a bit scared, "What happened, dad?" I ask him. "There was this kid, Jason Blossom, I'm pretty sure that's his name, he was going on a boat ride with his sister, Cheryl, and he fell off and just disappeared went missing, they think he was murdered." My heart starts beating faster, "Someone was murdered?" I ask. Dad shakes his head, "Well they're not 100% sure yet seeing as the body hasn't been found there's just been assumptions." He says. I touch my forehead, "Oh gosh." Dad gives me a hug, "I don't think anything bad will happen to you, Livvy, I just wanted to tell you before someone else did." I nod. "It's okay, I'm glad you did." "Let's get inside." He smiles.

I end up with an amazing bedroom with a few of the gorgeous street. In the midst of my awe of being in a new place my mind can't help but wonder to Jason Blossom. That poor guy, just missing maybe even dead. And his sister, Cheryl, and his family they must be losing it. It was one thing to lose my mother to dementia but I can't imagine losing a family member like that. I try to take my mind off these people I haven't even met and pack my bag for school tomorrow. Riverdale High School. Another semester, another new school. Oh well, I must not dwell on the past. I always consider myself to be an optimist and I'm excited to see the prospect of a great new school.

And hopefully great new people.
