You woke up to the sound of birds chirping, and running water. Your eyes fluttered open allowing the soft morning strands of light to pass through. You rubbed your eyes trying to stop the burning sensations. You sat up, hand pressing on the ground, supporting your upper body. You heard a crunch of leaves, as your hand made contact with the ground. "Where am I?" You whispered to yourself as you looked around.
There was nothing in the woods, but you and some animals. Just as you stood up and looked down at the imprint your body left among the leaves, you noticed something. A drop of blood glistened in the morning light. It then hit you as to what had happened last night. "How am I still alive?" You thought, as the memory of you being strangled by ropes and blacking out replayed in your head.
You licked your dry chapped lips and swallowed what ever drop of saliva you had left, but it did nothing to quench your thirst. You took a few steps towards the sound of running water, but it wasn't long before you felt a sharp searing pain in your lower abdomen. As you removed your hand, you noticed blood trickle down your fingers. You slowly lifted your top, only to reveal a blood stained bandage wrapped around your stomach. You sucked up the pain and proceeded to make your way towards the flowing river beneath you.
Just as you were walking down the slope to the river bed, a hand gripped tightly on your shoulder sending shivers down your spine. You turned around only to find the same green haired boy, that had almost killed you last night. You looked at him fear taking over, you had almost died once by the hands of him, and you weren't about to let him kill you.
You stumbled back and crouched down beside a tree. The pain in your lower abdomen only seemed to get worse. He crouched down and tried to reach out, but before his hand could touch you, you slapped it away. You clenched your right hand into a fist, but sadly your claws refused to come out. "I took them off cause I knew you would try to kill me" he pulled out your finger-less gloves from his pocket only to put them back in.
"Why didn't you just kill me?" you asked puzzled at his actions. He let out a deep sigh, and ran his hand through his perfectly fallen green hair. "That's the thing. I don't know. I just couldn't bring my self to do it." He let out another sigh, this one sounded like he was disappointed in himself rather then frustrated. "But you're an assassin, you're used to killing people." You sat up more, your hand still pressed on your stomach and your back on the hard bark of the tree. "Usually I would be able to cut you up into peaces. But like I said I don't know why I didn't do it." He leaned in and placed his warm hand upon your forehead. You flinched at his touch. He removed his hand and on it was a spot of blood. He reached for his pocket, a look of worry on your face. "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you." he said softly as he pulled out a bandage.
He placed his hand on yours and moved it off the wound. His hand traveled down to the end of your top, and he slowly started to peal it off your wound. You grimaced in pain, and with his calming voice he apologized. "Lift your arms." he said and you did as he had asked. He lifted your top over your head and soon it lay on the forest floor. You blushed. Cheeks burning red, as he looked into your E/C orbs. He peeled off the old dirty bandage and wrapped the new one on.
He reached for his pocket and pulled out a water bottle. "Here you nee-" before he could say anything else you grabbed the bottle and chugged down all the water. You wiped the drops of water that sat bellow your lips. As you looked up, you caught the boy staring at your lips. He noticed you looking at him and he started to blush, a small smile crept on your face as he did so. He stood up and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, we better get a move on if we don't want any of my teammates to find you. I'm sure they will all be looking for me by now." He said lending his hand to you. You took it hoisting yourself up, but stumbling a little. Before you could fall he grabbed you by the hip and pulled you close to him. You then put your arm around him and you both proceeded to walk.
You don't know how long you've been walking, but it felt like it had been hours. Strangely enough Lubbock had not grown tired, regardless of how hot it was and the fact that he had been carrying you. Sweat trickled down your face as you lifted it towards the scorching sun. "How much further do we have to go?" You asked. "Not much longer, we're almost there."
"That's too far." You whined, slumping your head back over his shoulder.
"Ahh, stop whining or I'll kill you." He said annoyed
"If you wanted to kill me I would be dead right now." You said with a smug grin on your face. He then came to a sudden halt. "Are we here?"
"Shh!" He silenced you before you could say anything more. He walked over to a fallen tree and set you down. You watched as he paced around as if he were looking for something. "Is very thing alright?"
"I don't think so." He said before cradling you in his arms again. He went further into the woods and placed you on a tree stump. He went down on one knee and took your hand into his. "Please don't tell me you're about to propose. We barely even know each other." You said jokingly
He let out the sweetest chuckle you have ever heard. "We know each other well enough for me to give you these." He reached for his pocket and pulled out your finger-less gloves. With your hand still in his, he put them on for you. "Listen." He said a look of worry now on his face. "I leave my strings laying in the forest. And when something triggers it, the vibrations come back to me. I do this so I know when there is danger near by. And right now one of them have been triggered."
"Do you think it's one of your teammates?"
"No, this thing is much larger."
"Danger beast perhaps?"
"Or just a really fat guy." He said sarcastically and you let out a soft giggle. He looked at you with a smile, admiration in his eyes as he scanned your beautiful face. He loved seeing you smile he loved hearing you laugh, even the cute little snort at the end. Especially when you covered your face trying to hide it. Something about you made him curious and confused, he just didn't know what or why.
He stood up and walked down the path from whence you came. He came to a halt and turned around to face you. "Don't go dying on me, I've gone through all this trouble to keep you alive. Don't want all my hard work to go to waste." He gave you a wink before disappearing into the woods.
You sat there for hours, waiting and worrying about him. He had been gone for too long, and you had started to fear for his life. You grabbed a large fallen branch from the damp ground. You slowly got up, trying to put all your weight onto the stick. Pain surged through your lower abdomen again. You grunt, crouching from the sudden pain. You took in a deep breath and started to walk down the path you saw Lubbock go down about three hours ago. Just as you were about to take another step, you noticed a large hairy body towering meters over you. "Crap." You said as you looked up, only to be faced with a large snarling danger beast. "I never catch a break." You said annoyed.
