JAYDEN'S POV

~~~~***~~~~
Lunch couldn't have came sooner.
I'm leaning against a pickup truck with my shades on. Just waiting for my buddies to hurry and get out of their classes. I'm starving and don't know how much longer I can stand waiting for these guys. Although, the seven of them are considered my brothers and I'm the youngest one. I have to obey them and in return I get teased and picked on. In a good way. The order of us goes; Mathew, Travis, Payton, Wilson, Brady, Tom, and then me. Jayden. Mathew is a senior, while the rest of the boys are Juniors, except me. I turned sixteen a week ago and the pickup's my birthday present. It's a white Dodge with dried mud all over the tires and it's splashed up on the sides. There's a camo cover on the steering wheel and the seats are ripped. It has a bit of miles on it, but continues to run like a song. It's Monday, so it's my day of the week to drive everyone to Subway. But they pay for my food to make up for gas money.
Last year it was different because I only had my Learner's Permit. In Spanish Fork, a Freshman is still in Jr. High. So I never got to go to lunch with the boys. That made me so angry. Just the thought of them eating at stores or with their friends in the hallway, while I was sitting at a dumb table, made me sick.
Finally, the familiar voices of my brothers is like music to my ears. I raise an eyebrow and look over with my arms folded across my chest. They're talking about something pretty interesting because Mathew's making big hand gestures and Wilson is laughing.
"About time," I interrupt.
All of them are wearing Letterman Jackets. Now I really feel like the outcast of our group. Mathew grabs his and points at it. Then at my shirt. Then back at his Letterman.
"What up, bro?" he laughs.
I raise my hands in the air and meet them half way. "I didn't know we were supposed to look good ladies."
Payton puts me in a headlock and nuggies me. I try to fight and get free. "It's the first day of school, dude." He drags me back over to my pickup and doesn't stop. "That's the best time!"
"Ahh! Payton stop!" I laugh. Don't know why I think it's is so funny because it really really hurts.
He lets me go and I run my fingers through my hair. "You're an animal."
"No. I'm just hungry."
Everyone jumps in the bed on my truck and starts getting comfortable. Tom's the only one who gets in the passenger's seat. I pull out my keys and walk to the driver's side and get in. The familiar smell of Tom's cologne fills my truck. Smells pretty good, but in my opinion, mine is better.
"You ready?" I ask.
"Are you ready?" he repeats.
"Hell yeah, I'm ready!" We both laugh and buckle up.
Tom's a mature guy with red hair and freckles. He's very calm and smart. And by smart, I mean, smart. Not so much intelligent as the rest of us are. But he's had a 4.0 GPA since Freshman year, and to me that's amazing. I'm a B average man myself. Same goes for the rest of the boys. You're first impression of Tom would be he looks like the male version of the Wendy's sign. Which is kind've sad, but true.
We make our way down Main street with the radio blaring Jason Aldean out the windows. If the cops in a different city saw five boys sitting in the bed of a pickup, they would arrest them. But here, I know all the Police men quite well and they definitely are familiar with all of us. People around town talk about us using the name, 'The boys'. So that'sbwho we are. Almost everyday is spent with each other making memories that will last a lifetime. Me, Brady, Wilson and Mathew all go to the same church. Even on Sundays we're together. It's not that bad anymore, compared to Middle School when the smallest insult got us fired up like a bull. One time, Brady and Travis got in a fight and wouldn't even look at each other for months. Finally we ended up ignoring both of them until they made up because we couldn't stand them.
