The Sea Witch (Ereri)

Chapter 5: All is Revealed

-Eren P.O.V-

We had just made it to the gates when we were surrounded by guards. Four guards in particular had fought their way to the front. I quickly put up a barrier to hold them out but one guard had gotten inside it. The bald merman swam toward Sasha, I was going to pull her back but before I could she had him in a headlock. I looked around to see how everyone was and Hange and crew were missing. Just great.

"Sasha is the headlock necessary," I asked. She nodded in reply. I guess she won't let him go for free. "Hey Baldy," I said. He just growled at me. "You know where the kitchens are right," I asked. Before he could give me a smart ass reply Sasha started dragging him demanding food. Bastard better be grateful.

I then worked on Armin's mate. "Armin, you know Merfolk have lived in the sea for thousands of years," I said. he just nodded confused. "That means they know all the best places in the ocean. Maybe someone would like to show you all of them," I said with a smile. Armin timidly swam out of the barrier to have his arm grabbed by Eyebrows. Apparently he is interested in the land while Armin is interested in the ocean.

Ymir was banging down on the barrier so hard I thought it would break. Christa swam over to try and see what was wrong. Let's say they left together quietly. Then all that was left was horse face. I motioned Marco to swim with me towards him. Marco seemed a bit scared at first. I managed to calm him down and horse face glared at me. Marco soon left with horse face and I actually saw him smile. Not Marco he smiles all the time, but Jean.

Soon it was just Mikasa and I. I swam back over to her and saw her mate trying to swim over the guards toward her. I blasted the barrier back knocking all the guards away. Mikasa seemed a bit shocked at my actions before I nodded to her mate telling her to go. She gave me a smile before she was pulled into a hug by Annie. I gave a smile to them. I was about to swim towards the castle when I saw a dart of black hair fly past me.

"Levi the only reason I am here today is because of the man behind you," Mikasa said through her tears. Everything went in slow motion as Levi turned to me. I had always imagined how our reunion would go. He would swim into my arms with tears streaming down his face. Maybe we would share a heartwarming kiss. I would swim into his arms and he would forgive me for leaving for all those years.

None of my fantasies happened. None of the thousands of possibilities I had thought of. Levi got up and swam to me with tears in his eyes. I started to swim towards him tears of my own starting to form. I opened my arms to embrace him, but before I could, I felt myself hit the ocean floor. In a daze I looked up, Levi is pissed.

-Mikasa's P.O.V-

I watched as Levi beat Eren senseless. Before it got to an all out murder I got up and swam to Eren. Levi seemed shocked at what I was doing. "I understand you are pissed but that doesn't give you the right to hurt your mate," I said darkly. He only glared as if I didn't know what I was talking about. "When I first met Eren he was a zombie. A husk of a living person. He was nothing, practically an empty shell. He started to show some emotion again after he took me in. Not immediately but about five years after. Even as a zombie he did his best to raise me. He taught me to defend myself because, as he put it, he would have killed anyone that hurt me. I have lived with Eren for ten years and I will not allow you to hurt him in this way," I said to Levi in a cold voice. Levi seemed to be taken aback. Eren weakly swam toward me. "Mikasa thank you but Levi has every right to be angry. I left him. Just up and left him with no warning because the people thought I cursed him. Some thought I put a spell on him to make him mine. They were going to kill him if I didn't do anything. So I left. I left because I wanted to save him. Was it selfish, yes. Would I do it all again if it meant protecting him, absolutely," Eren said.

I see now. He had looked into their future and saw an attempt on Levi's life. It had to have been successful if it caused him to flee in that way. "Eren, who did it," I asked. "I don't know. All I know is that it would have been before we finished saying our vows," he replied. I looked over at Levi. He was in tears. He always thought Eren left because he didn't love him but his entire logic was just smashed in front of him. Eren left to save the one he loved. I can't fault him for that.
