The man ran up the stairs, sweating excessively. He took two steps at a time, and constantly looked behind him. It didn't matter if he couldn't see him- all that mattered was that he was there, and it wasn't good.
He got to the floor of his apartment, and sprinted down the corridor. He approached his door and fumbled around in his pockets for his keys. They weren't there. He heard footsteps- someone was walking up the staircase. He stepped back and lunged into the door with his shoulder. He did it again, then twice more, and the door burst open. He scrambled inside, closing the door behind him. He scrambled through his desk drawers until he found it. From one of the drawers he drew a handgun, and turned to the door. He pointed it at it, waiting for it to open. But nothing. He was trembling- his gun shaking in his hands. Where was he?! The room was completely dark, except for the light coming in from a streetlight outside of the window. His eyes widened.
The window.
He turned around, but it was too late. A fist met his face, and he went down on his front, howling in pain. His gun flew across the room. The intruder grabbed his arm and pulled on it, whilst also keeping a foot on his back. He screeched in pain once again, until the man loosened a bit.
"Drake Wayder. Drug dealer. Pimp. Leader of Rat Gang in downtown New York." Rorschach said, his gravelly voice making Drake sweat even more. "Still not who I'm after. You planned the recent prison riot."
Drake finally found the breath to talk. "Only one person got out, man!" He whimpered.
"The only person you wanted out. Cletus Kasady. Guilty of four accounts of murder. Why did you want scum like him out?!" Rorschach persisted.
"The man wanted him out!" Wayder said desperately. Rorschach snarled.
"What man?!"
"I-I don't know! He didn't want to meet in person... He used a voice thing on the phone! After the alien things came down, I just assumed he was being paranoid or something!" He said quickly. Rorschach took a moment to digest this. The man looked at Rorschach with his peripherals, but all he could see was part of his fedora.
"If the information you've told me is false, I'll come back to finish the job." Rorschach said, letting go of the man's arm and stepping off him. As Drake groaned, he heard shoes against wooden floorboards, and then Rorschach stepping out of the window.

TEN MONTHS LATER, ONE MONTH AFTER THE 'SUPREME KNIGHT' INCIDENT
The man slowly opened his eyes, groaning in pain. His vision was hazy, making it look like he was hanging upside down.
No, wait.
He widened his eyes, coming to the realisation that he really was hanging upside down. He looked down, and saw that he was hanging off the top of Gotham Cathedral, 200 metres above the ground. He started screaming, his arms flailing. He stopped, however, when a hand grabbed his hair and pulled his head upwards. He was suddenly staring into the face of what looked like a demon from the darkness and the rain. But he knew who it was.
"Cletus Kasady?!" The Batman shouted. The man shook his head violently.
"No... N-no I-I-I'm just an accomplice of his! Sean Gibbons!" The man said desperately. "Cletus... he helped me out a few years back with the spider guy in New York..."
"You're part of the Rat Gang, a criminal organisation operating in New York, mainly in the underground." Batman said, "You helped break Kasady out."
"I owed him one for getting the spider off my back! What was I supposed to do?!"
"Why are you in Gotham?" Batman demanded.
"Someone in New York... has been cracking down on us, man!" Sean whimpered. The Bat narrowed his eyes.
"Spider-Man?" He said. Once again, Sean shook his head.
"Someone else... half the guys are dead, the most of the others are either injured, in jail or on the run... we're not safe in just one city!" He spurted out. The Batman digested this information for a moment.
"Where is Kasady now?"
"I don't know! We set him out in the crap area of New York... he's gotta be long gone by now!" Gibbons said.
"Not likely. He's attracted to murdering the famous of New York and Gotham... you know where he is!" Batman responded, gritting his teeth. Sean noticed one of his fists clenching. He had two options- and he wasn't going to choose the wrong one, for sure.
"He's in Gotham, I think. That's where we left him last. Word is he's after Commissioner Gordon, Mayor Fisk or Bruce Wayne..." He spat out. Batman took it in for another moment.
"This vigilante who's been tracking you... his name! Tell me!" He demanded.
"Rorschach!"
