I don't know how long it was, but I finally hear a car stop. Then my ears were filled with a scream. A woman screaming.
Soon the screams were replaced by sirens. My eyes were drifting the last thing I remember was being lifted up to the air.
My eyes slowly open. I look around and see white walls. I look down to my hands. I have a tube stuck in me. I swallow hard and I release a breath.
"Hello." She whispers hoping maybe someone is listening. But there's no reply. She tilts her head to the left and tries to muster enough energy to get up. But her body refuses and soon her eyes drift again. Taking her to a safer place. Away from reality and into the land of dreams.
Her eyes open again. Now she's surrounded by people in uniforms. Aadya looks at them.
The next few hours run by. The test results stating that she was raped and beaten. Questions in and out. Does she remember anything? How many people were there? Where was she taken from? Anything at all?
Aadya did her best to keep up with the answers, but she was drowning in them. It felt never ending like the rape. It's like she was being violated again. Even though she knew they were just trying to help, but it didn't seem like it. They finally left, telling her to swing by the precinct, to do some more follow up questions.
She lets her eyes take control of her, hoping that they'll take her back to the land of dreams. However, she is interrupted by a shuffle of noise. Her eyes open to see a man. He's looking at the machines that's helping her.
"Hello." She says. Aadya is taken by her voice and the fact that she talked.
The man looks at her and shyly smiles at her and says, "Hello."
She smiles back, "Sit."
He does and looks at her. "My name's Alistar."
"That's beautiful. I'm Aadya."
"I know," he chuckles, "I'm your nurse."
She chuckles as well, "Of course."
There's a shift and they both feel it.
Alistar looks at her, "I'm sorry that you're here."
Aadya looks to the ceiling, "I'm sorry too."
"Is there anything I can do?"
She turns to him, "Just talk. Talk about anything. Everything."
"I can do that."
That's how she spent the next few hours. Listening to Alistar talk about his life and as she listens her eyes slowly drift away. Taking her to the land of dreams, but this time she wasn't alone.
