"At seventeen, the hardest choice you should have to make is what clothes you want to wear, or what food you want to eat; not sitting at the edge of your bed at four in the morning considering whether or not our existence matters in this world."

I sit here in this new school building...well new to me. This building is falling apart. From the crumbling brick walls, to the cracked tile floors, to the slightly caving roof. I sit on a bench outside of the office waiting for some guy named Derek Zeller to show up and show me around. Apparently he got in some trouble with the school and now has to help me get situated in this stupid school. I don't want nor do I need his help. From the sounds of things he is all trouble. I don't need any more of that, part of the reason I am even at this school is because of trouble from where I was before. I guess I just got in with the wrong crowed. And also my foster parents decided they wanted to move to this rundown town. I sit here for about twenty minutes and the bell rings for students to start making their way to class. As they pass a lot of them stare. Do they not get new students often? Probably not, this town is literally in the middle of nowhere. The closest city is about forty-five minutes away from here. A little old lady comes out and frowns at me, looking around. She must be looking for that guy.
She stands in front of me and says, "Well Derek has still not shown up it seems, I will walk you to your class dear." She starts walking down the hallway so I follow her. I get through my first three classes okay. Everyone seemed to be exited that there was someone new at their school. These people really need to get out more. I still have not seen Derek, maybe he just won't show up today, I hope not. I'm looking at my schedule to see where my next class is and I feel something hard hit me. Much to my embarrassment, I fall to the ground.
"Watch where you're going." Says a voice.
"I..uh..sorry." I stand up to come face to face with none other than who I assume to be Derek Zeller. I can tell just by his appearance. Black skinny jeans with holes in the knees, black fitting T-shirt, leather jacket, and combat boots to tie his look together. Not to mention his black hair that goes to about his ears, and his eyes. His eyes are a deep blue with flecks of gold.
Derek
This is stupid. I can't believe they are making me babysit a stupid girl all because I graffiti-ed the school. I don't understand why she can't find her own way around the school, it's not like the school is big. I feel someone small run into me and I watch as she falls to the ground.
"Watch where you're going." I say glaring down. She looks up with wide eyes. She stands up and mutters and apology. She's small and has long black, wavy hair. Her eyes are the most beautiful shade of green I have ever seen. They are like a forest green with other shades of green within them. She has a silver hoop in her nose and is dressed in ripped jeans, combat boots, and a simple black shirt. I am actually surprised I thought she was going to be like the rest of the girls around here. She starts to walk away and I call out to her.
"Hey, you!" She turns around looking kind of scared. "You are Sasha right? I'm Derek. I'm supposed to show you around."
She stands up straight and says, "Well, Derek. Why don't we just pretend that you help me so you can get out of the trouble you are in and I can be left the hell alone. Sound good to you?" She looks straight at me and then turns and walks away at a fast pace. I stand there kind of shocked. No one ever talks to me like that. They are all too afraid. Zach and Aiden walk up to me and ask who she is.
"That is Sasha."
Sasha
It is now lunch and I am laying in the grass outside of the school, the sun is shining down on me and I have my headphones in. I keep running through my run in with Derek. A shadow blocks the sun from shining on me. I open my eyes and see two guys standing in front of me.
"Hey Aid, I told you it was her." What the hell? "Are you the one who snitched on us?" They both stare down at me. I stand up.
"What the hell are you talking about?" Then it clicked. They are the ones who I saw vandalize the school. There were three of them though. I shake my head and start to walk away, looking at the ground. For the second time today I run into someone. They grab my arm so I don't fall, I look up and see that it is Derek, again.
"Shit...sorry. Again." I step back and hear him laughing at me. I hear footsteps behind me and know it's those two guys. I start to walk away but Derek grabs my arm, I glare at his hand on my arm and then to his face.
"You really need to start watching where you are going." He says with a grin.
"Yo! Derek you recognize her don't you?" The Aid guy asks. Derek was the third guy? Huh, I thought he was in trouble for something else. Either way, I need to get out of here. I try to walk away again but Derek keeps a hold of my arm. He just stands there looking at me.
"Let go of me." I say and try to pull out of his grasp. He laughs at me again and I glare more.
"She's the one who saw us graffiti the school." Says Aid. I give up on trying to get away and just stand there. Derek looks at his friends and then back at me.
Looking at the ground I say, "I didn't tell, I honestly couldn't care less what you do this this place. Now will you please let me go and leave me alone?"
"Sorry to tell you this but you're stuck with me for a few weeks or I'm screwed. And since you're stuck with me you are stuck with Aiden and Zach here too." He says and I look up at him to see a smirk on his face. I look at Aiden and Zach to see them smirking as well. There are a lot of people staring. Great...just what I need. I groan, knowing that it is inevitable to escape this. I pull against Derek's grip and sit down on the grass. He smiles and I swear I see accomplishment shining in his eyes.
Derek
I sit down beside Sasha. She is a lot feistier than I would imagine her being. Aiden and Zach keep interrogating her and she looks like she is going to kill Aiden if he says another word. I don't think she is the one who told on us. Like she said, she doesn't care. The bell rings and Sasha stand up and quickly walks away.
A/N: Okay my lovelies!!! Here is the first chapter!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. (:
