Chapter 1:

Midnight Memories:

"Harry are you awake?" Louis whispered from the other side of our bedroom. To be honest I was up all night thinking about him. I couldn't possibly sleep with all those thoughts in my head - I wasn't surprised that the same thing was going on with him.

"I was never asleep..." I mumbled as I opened my heavy eyes and propped myself up on my elbows.

I could see his frown from across the room. He swung his legs over the side of his bed and stood up. He was bare except for his Union Jack boxers, so I could see his rock solid abs. "I couldn't sleep either." His hair was tousled, sticking out at odd angles, and his face looked so tired, yet still so beautiful. It was absurd, how even with the lack of sleep, stress, and bed head he looked as wonderful as always. He stopped in front of my bed, and stared into my emerald green eyes.

For a moment we stayed like that, silent and just staring at one another, until I decided to attempt to lighten the mood. "You're going to catch a cold." I smirked, trying to get him back to his usual happy-go-lucky self.

"A cold? It's practically Summer out." Louis scoffed.

I bit my bottom lip and said; "Well you don't want to take any chances and I'm pretty good at scaring off bugs." I patted the bed beside me.

"Says the boy who got scared of a spider and had to get me to kill it." Even his stubborn self couldn't resist my charm - he jumped onto my bed and pulled me into a bear hug. I could feel his arms tense up, and I knew he was going to go back to being all serious again. "I couldn't stop thinking about you." Louis mumbled.

"I guess I'm pretty memorable." I shrugged. "Like.." I paused so I could laugh. "Like when we first met... 'Oops! ... Hi.' "

"That was the best day of my life." Louis whispered into my ear as he stared down at his matching tattoo.

"Well what other day could possibly compare... Oh wait. I've got it..." I paused dramatically and looked up to see Lou lifting his eyebrow at me. "Before our Judge's House performance you got stung by a sea urchin." I burst out laughing again. "Priceless."

"Alright that was pretty funny. Well now it's funny. Before it definitely was not!" Louis attempted to muffle his laugh.

"Our career could have ended right then and there. Because of a sea urchin." I glanced back up at him.

"Yeah, yeah..." He brushed off my teasing, used to it by now. "It doesn't make sense to me how that day could be the best day of my life though...?" Louis quizzically smirked.

I gave a half smile towards my pillow, in a shy manner -okay, not shy, but you get my point- before responding to him. "Well... You know... when I went to visit you in the hospital... I, I..."

"You what?" Louis' strong but gentle arms were still around me as I squirmed underneath him. "Say it." He nagged.

"When I saw you that day laying there with your foot all wrapped up I realized that I loved you more than just a friend." I smiled. "The other boys, they're like my brothers... And I thought it was the same with you, but when I saw you there... I, I realized I was falling in love with you. I guess that damn creature wasn't all that bad after all."

"You know what's funny?" Louis smirked.

"Is this going to be another one of your terrible jokes?" I elbowed him in the side and he pushed me over, laughing.

"Depends..." He raised an eyebrow and then caught me by surprise by trapping me under him. His abs pressed against my shirt, he leaned down and whispered; "Is falling in love with a boy with a butterfly on his stomach funny to you?"
