Chief Johnson tossed the phone aside, still grinning.
He was a tall man with brown hair and brown eyes. Johnson was one of those men who was proud to wear his uniform and badge and he hated injustice more than anything.
If I was a female who had never done anything to make the police hate me, I might even go as far as saying he was a middle-aged man who had aged nicely. In other words, he was unfairly handsome.
"I got you now boy. If you try to run I won't hesitate to shoot you." Johnson spoke.
"How'd you find me?" I question, trying to act brave.
Well, I wasn't scared or anything. I mean, I'm Louis! I'm brave! I was just slightly worried for the other members of my group. Or at least, that's the story I'm going to go with.
"I don't think you'd really understand how I found you even if I wanted to tell you. I find the whole thing a bit esoteric myself." He chuckles softly.
"And what exactly is that supposed to mean?"
"Let's just say, we have found new sources. Now, where were we? Oh yeah, arrest him!"
He motions for the other policemen to come after me but I take a few more steps back.
"W-w-wait, trying to arrest me is not really a good idea." I explain to them, backing up a couple of centimeters.
"You're weapon-less and have no means of escape. I can't think of one reason that would make this a bad idea. Besides, I'd say we have nothing to lose arresting you."
"Well, what if I...uhh...told you I had a plan." I falter over my words.
"Even if you did, we'd still have nothing to lose." Chief Johnson says. "Now, you have the right to remain silent." He then turns to the boys. "Get him."
The two other men that accompanied the chief follow their boss' command.
"P-p-put your hands behind your back." One of them says nervously, pointing their gun at me with a worried expression and shaking hands. I had a bit of a reputation with the police.
"Alright, alright." I give in, allowing him to put cuffs on my wrist.
I didn't really know where I was going with this, I was hoping that maybe some brilliant plan would come to me and I could escape. However, nothing of the sorts happened so I just sort of stood there with a vacant expression as I let them arrest me.
I close my eyes and think long and hard. "C'mon, Louis." I mentally encourage myself.
I feel my body being moved forward but I still keep my eyes closed, trying to think.
"C'mon, Louis. C'mon Louis." I repeatedly tell my self, becoming slightly annoyed with the fact that I cannot seem to think of anything or any plan.
"C'mon, think of something!" I begin to yell at myself in my thoughts.
Boom!
There's a gunshot and I freeze in place. I'm dead now. I must be dead.
Boom!
Boom!
Two more bullets go whizzing past my head. The loud sound from the gun is deafening and for a second I genuinely want to believe I'm dead, but something tells me I'm not. My eyes are still closed and my hearing is all off and the confusion of three loud gunshots is making me wonder if I'm hallucinating.
"C'mon, Louis." This time I'm not the one saying this and when I open my eyes Jaela is in front of me.
She is motioning for me to follow her but the shock I am feeling overcomes me and it seems to me that I'm paralyzed.
