It was a year later, and Athena was now 17. Eric was now 21, so it was almost time for him to be crowned king.
Athena was in her bedroom, looking out the window when she saw a green mist coming. The green mist turned into an ugly-looking woman, who looked evil. This scared Athena so much that she went to warn her family.
"That's Morgana, a sorceress from the Northern Islands," Cedric, the royal wizard, declared. "She's evil and power-hungry. She hopes that one day, she could strike down a royal family and take over their kingdom."
"Oh, this is terrible!" Kerry cried.
"Not to worry, Your Majesty," Cedric smiled. "Morgana will do nothing to you or your family. You all need to be protected, so Morgana doesn't strike you down."
"How?" Brandon asked.
"I will cast a spell that can protect all of you inside an enchanted painting that even Morgana's magic will not touch," Cedric revealed. "But it'll take some time to cast it."
"And we don't have much time—Morgana is on her way here now," Lucia frowned.
Athena was so afraid that she just felt like she had no other choice. "Cedric, go ahead and cast that spell—leave Morgana to me," she declared.
"Where are you going, Athena?" Miles asked.
"To take care of Morgana," Athena revealed.
"You're going to face Morgana alone?" Kerry asked.
"Athena, I wouldn't do that—it's too dangerous," Eric frowned.
"I know, but it's the only way to have more time to cast that spell," Athena claimed.
Athena's family was worried about her, but she was doing this to keep them safe.
"Okay, honey, be careful," Brandon told his daughter. He turned to Cedric and said, "Cedric, lay it on us."
When Cedric started to cast the spell, Athena courageously ran to face Morgana by herself. She got to the entrance of the palace when the mist came in front of her, and Morgana appeared.
"Hello, there—you must be a princess," Morgana smirked.
"Well, duh, Captain Obvious," Athena scoffed. "You're not going anywhere near my family."
"Not before I take care of you," Morgana smirked. "Vadisima!"
"What?" Athena gasped.
Morgana waved her wand and cast a murder spell to strike Athena down—but Athena's magical Amulet saved her life by pulling her inside it. Once Athena was inside the Amulet, the jewel turned emerald green. Morgana thought she'd gotten rid of Athena, but she didn't know what really happened to her.
Cedric had already finished casting the spell to protect Athena's family from Morgana, and he had seen the Amulet pull Athena inside. While Morgana went to hunt for Athena's family, Cedric picked up the Amulet. The only way to get Athena out of the Amulet was to find another princess to wear it and set her free.
While Cedric went to find a special princess to free Athena, Morgana saw that the rest of the royal family was gone—and she had usurped the throne and taken over Albuquerque. Morgana made a lot of unfair laws: no music, no singing, no dancing, no fun festivals, and no magic except her own.
Unfortunately for Athena, Cedric searched the globe for the one princess to get her out of the Amulet for years until he grew too old to continue. None of the princesses who wore the Amulet of Albuquerque had what it takes to free Athena.
