The Necklace

Chapter One: Memories

"Come on Ruby, we gotta go." My mom told me. 

"Where?" I asked. 

"I told you a million times! We have a family reunion at the park. We're having a BBQ. Come one, we can't be late!" 

"Fine." I walked over to my closet. I grabbed my clothes. Simple clothes. Just a black sweater and jeans.

"Mom! Can I get my backpack as well?"

"Sure! Just grab a water bottle for yourself, we're waiting in the car! Hurry!"

I grabbed my bag and got all the things I might need. You know, swimsuit, extra clothes, a little snack. Wait, where's my stress ball? I need my stress ball. I need it because the psychiatrist said  I need it at all times! I look under my bed, not there. I look on my nightstand, not there. I remember! It's under my pillow. I grabbed it a ran down stairs. 

Finally, after a long two hour ride to the park, we're here. 

"Mom, can I explore the forest."

"Ugh, why are you so in love with nature! Fine, but be back in an hour."

I took my bag from the car and ran to the forest. I ran by my relatives. My cousins, aunts, uncles. And then I caught a glimpse of someone. My sister! I haven't seen her in years! I stopped running and turned around. She turned as well. I started running towards her. 

"Ruby!" She screamed. "Is it really you? I've missed you so much!"

"Nah, not as much as me. Roni, if you weren't here, I would have died!" Roni was WAY older than me. I'm 13, while she's 25. She left my family because she got married and moved in with her husband, Lucifer. The moved to Texas and left me all alone in Arizona. Well, with mom and dad. 

"I'm gonna go see mom and dad and everyone else, where are you going?"

"I'm going to the..." I paused. Should I say the forest? She remembers what happened 7 years ago, she won't let me go. Or she'll go with me."Playground." I said. "I'm going to the playground."

"Okay, see ya later Alligator!" I love it when she says that. It's Cute. Anyways, I continued running, I looked back to see is Roni was look, and ran even faster. 

Finally, I made it. I need to go to the farthest part of the forest,  so no one would see. What I was doing was special. But no one else can handle this. 

I found the perfect spot, an empty area with a circle of trees around. I sat down and emptied my backpack. I picked up my stress ball, and just stared at it. Then, all my memories came back. From 7 years ago. I can't stop it! I can't stop the visions!

"Come Ruby! C'mon you slowpoke!"

"Sorry Roni! I'm  coming." I stepped on the sticks. I liked it when the stick broke under my foot. It felt funny. But I was still slow. So Roni came and grabbed me and carried me the rest of the way. We made it to the river in the forest. The river's flow was fast. If anyone fell in there, they'd be gone!

"Look! Look! A fish!" I pointed to a fish on the ground, little did I know it was dead. 

Roni and I kept walking along the river. The we saw a man, he was walking along the same path. He stopped. Roni took my hand and we kept walking. He was creepy, I thought to myself. 

We made it to a spot my sister called the "Sweet spot". It was just a bunch of trees shading all the sunlight. The grass was dump and I liked that. Roni laid down on the grass. After a while, she fell asleep. So I decided to wander around. 

I saw this necklace on the ground. It was pretty. It had a gem the was black as coal. I picked up a rock and hit the gem with it, to make sure it was real. It didn't break, good, it was real. I picked up the necklace and put it on. Suddenly, I felt dizzy. I began screaming my heart out. I don't know why, I wasn't hurt, and I wasn't scared. Then I saw the man. He was hiding behind a tree really far away.  I started to scream louder. I couldn't stop! I can't control myself! What's happening. I think at this point my sister woke up.  She came and started shaking me. I can't stop! I can't say anything. I can see the man walking closer ad closer. Now I'm scared. 

"Here," He said. " Splash this water on her." He handed Roni some water. It looked normal. 

"Who are you?" Roni screamed. 

"Splash this water on her, she will be fine." 

Roni grabbed the water and splashed it on my. I stopped screaming. Then I collapsed on the ground. 

I woke up form this vision. Only to see a beautiful young girl. I didn't know her. 

"Do you need help? You were screaming, are you okay?"

"I'm...uh. I'm fine." I tried to get up. She offered to help me. 

"I'm Raven. Need help?"

I nodded. She helped me up.

"I'm Ruby." I said. I feel this vibe of her. I can feel my necklace shaking. I looked down at it, it wasn't black as coal, it was glowing. Bright like a star. I knew at this point, she would help me with this. I just knew it.
