"What the fuck happened?" I ask, looking at the bathroom. Emily lays lifeless on the floor. Her brown hair is tousled and her brown eyes are hard and remain open.
"Emily was killed." Lizzy pipes up. Ashton glares at her. The last thing we need is Lizzy stating the obvious. Yes, I felt bad for her because she was kind of an airhead, but she should know not to say something like that.
"I know. How? Why?" I say. It could've been Lizzy, Hailey or Sarah that murdered her. It might have even been a random person for all I knew. Chances are though, it was someone in this room. A knot in my stomach that I didn't even know was there tightened.
I bend down to look at Emily. Her head was bleeding profusely. I touch her neck and search for a pulse. Nothing. She's definitely dead. She was murdered.
"She's dead. And she was hit in the head with something." I observe. Everyone nods, because no one knows what else to do. Everyone fidgets uncomfortably from where they are, a guilty look creeping up their faces.
"What should we do?" Hailey asks, holding Carter's hand worriedly. Even at a time like this, Carter's instinct is to be a fuckboy. He can't even feel a little sympathy for Emily and pay attention to her. I glare at him.
"We can't do anything except save ourselves. Our cars are here we can drive back to New Jersey." Alex says. Everyone nods. I think it's unanimous that Alex's idea is the smartest choice. Everyone looks at each other for approval, and we all nod our heads.
"Good thinking, let's go." Dylan says and we all follow him to the door. The once wooden door is padded with steel. Locks layer the door, making it impossible to open. He struggles to open it.
"It's locked." He growls, punching the door angrily. I grab his fist and try to calm him down. The last thing we need is for Dylan to go all crazy on us. I can feel his fast pulse from his fist. Slowly, it settles.
"Let's check the back door." I say. We all head to the back and it's locked too. The door is extremely similar to the other one. Metal is set on top of it and combination locks are layered on top of that.
Sarah looks like she is about to cry. "I don't wanna die!" She cries. Cameron awkwardly hugs her to relax her. Not in a player way, either. In a genuinely caring way. That was sweet of him.
We don't bother checking the windows. They're all bulletproof and painted shut. Impossible to break or get through. The Principal told us it had been there for awhile and no one had bothered to fix it.
I watch the rain fall down from the clouds and onto the ground. The clear rain drop drops from the moist cloud and lands on the green grass. It feels oddly comforting, knowing that I've experienced rain before. It feels like everything is okay. But it isn't.
"Watching the rain, are we?" Dylan says, a slight smile tugging at the corner of his lips. I turn around and face him, an amused smile growing on my lips. I turn around and continue watching the rain fall. It's weird how I seek entertainment in rain when just an hour ago I was playing truth or dare.
"Who would want to kill Emily?" I ask, biting my lip. She was an innocent girl. She didn't deserve to die. I didn't understand why anyone would have wanted to kill her. What motive would they have had?
"I don't know. I'm sorry if I scared you by punching the door. I get nervous in scary situations." He says, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. Aw, Dylan is apologizing. To me. I give him a warm smile.
