Ophelia Chase was a bright girl. Even at five years old, she could tell when someone was upset. So when she saw Leo Alexander crying that day, she knew better than to ask why. So instead, she just sat there and cried with him. She knew from experience, that it was better to cry with, than to cry over. So when she cried that day she didn't cry for him. She cried for herself. And she cried for her sister.
When Leo Alexander was five, he found out he was going to have a little sister. So of course he did what most five-year-olds do. He cried. In all honesty, looking back, he couldn't stand to think about it without laughing. He hadn't been expecting Ophelia Chase to come up and cry beside him. It was weird, he cried for having a little sister, and she cried for losing one. After that day, Ophelia loathed Leo.
Ophelia Chase was a bright girl. Even at seven, she knew when not to speak. In example, she knew speaking at the dinner table would result in a smack. She also knew speaking during class would bring unwanted attention towards her face. And most of all, speaking to Leo Alexander would end up with fist flying everywhere.
On Leo Alexander's seventh birthday, he found out Ophelia Chase was born on the exact same day. How, you may ask? By inviting his crush, Amy Henderson, to his birthday and being turned down for Ophelia Chase. So you know what he did? He talked to Ophelia Chase, and ended up with a big black eye. She thought it quite becoming for the birthday boy. However, the Alexander's did not agree. That was the day she ended up with a permanent record and him with a smile.
Ophelia Chase was a quiet girl. She'd stopped talking to most everyone. The only reason she still talked to anyone, was to piss Leo Alexander off. By then, she was nine years old, and had a track record longer than the entire state of California. She had been in fights and been out of school a lot by this point. Nothing truly mattered to her during this time. Luckily that would soon change.
When Leo Alexander was nine, he realized exactly how much he hated Ophelia Chase. Of course, there's a fine line between love and hate. He just didn't know it. He thought he loved Amy Henderson, and how wrong he turned out to be. But at this time, he was still madly in love with her, or at least the idea of her. So, when he saw Ophelia Chase become her best friend, he was livid.
Ophelia Chase was a friend. After she stopped using Amy Henderson to get back at Leo Alexander, she realized she was actually a pretty good friend. She always hung out with her and always sat by her. She didn't even mind when she insulted her. And for an 11-year-old girl, Ophelia knew a lot of insults. Of course, she had all learned them at home. She still came in with bruises every day, and she still cried for her lost sister.
By the time Leo Alexander was 11, his sister was 6. Now of course you didn't need to do a really hard math to figure that out, but that meant that she would be going into kindergarten that year. Leo Alexander had finally gotten over having a little sister. In fact, he actually liked having her around. But only sometimes. He was a very protective boy, because she was his sister. So when she went into school, he stopped focusing on Amy Henderson. Instead, he focused on keeping his little sister safe.
Ophelia Chase was happy. When she was 13, she realize something. She realized she couldn't live life being unhappy. So instead, she was only unhappy during that time of month. From then on, she was happy. She was always smiling, and was always outside. And even though she didn't like Leo Alexander, she still smiled. That was the first time he ever noticed her, in a different light. But intelligent that girl was, she never noticed. Not like it mattered to her. Right?
When Leo Alexander started really looking at girls, he was 13. Most of the girls his age we're going through puberty, and finally just started developing boobs. Most of his friends immediately got girlfriends, however, he did not. So one day, when Ophelia Chase's shirt side down, He did not have to walk away like his friends. And boy was he glad that he did not have to look away. She immediately ran out of the lunch room and probably broke out into tears. But to Leo, that was the best day of his life. Because that was the day he finally noticed Ophelia Chase was actually very pretty.
Ophelia Chase was flirty. At 15, she'd had three boyfriends and two flings. Obviously, she became very popular. She soon became friends with everyone, even Leo Alexander, her enemy from years ago. She was still a very big troublemaker, but now she was a straight a student and the most well-known student on campus. She was even voted homecoming queen. But sadly, every story must have its downfalls. This was the year she experienced her first heartbreak. And even more tragically, it was not her last.
By the time Leo Alexander was 15, he was very fed up. He'd gotten pretty close to Ophelia, and eventually realized he was in love with her. He spent most of his days with her. They'd mostly do what she wanted to do, that was ok with him as long as they were together. Normally they were very lazy people. So by time Ophelia had her third big heartbreak, he was pretty pissed off when she went out with Jake Dawson, the biggest douche bag on the Earth. And he knew he'd break her heart, but she didn't want to hear it. And that was how he ended up being shoulder she cried on.
Ophelia Chase was in love. At 17, she finally fell in love with her soulmate. Looking back, she laughed how she missed it the first time around. However, Leo Alexander did not find it as humorous as she did. This was the first year she spent truly happy. She was with him, and that was all that mattered. But alas, all good things must come to an end. And she did not know whether this was the end.
When Leo Alexander turned 17, the crazy girl he had been in love with for four years finally realized how much she loves him. It was the best year of his life. They spent every waking moment together, and couldn't bear to be apart. However, sometimes the past comes to bite you in the ass. And sometimes the future postpones the present. And currently he couldn't tell, which, was which.
"Will I ever see that girl again? The girl from Way Back When."
But of course, we must start at the beginning. The beginning of Ophelia Chase and Leo Alexander, and the end of all things.
