On the ride there it was pretty silent. We almost got lost because his phone map was being crap. As soon as we arrived I noticed the mass of teenagers swimming, drinking, and sitting around a bonfire. As I was peering out the window I had the feeling someone was watching me, not just someone, but Carter. “What?” I raised my eyebrow. “Oh um, nothing.” He cleared his throat.
We’ve been walking around for a while and to be honest it’s been pretty boring. No fights, no drunks, nothing. But, I spoke too soon.
Music finally started blaring from some car and everyone screamed. “LET’S GET THIS SHIT STARTED! CHUG!’’ This unknown person from the car screamed and everyone grabbed some alcohol. Wait, I swear there was not any alcohol 2.5 seconds ago, what even. I looked over my shoulder and saw Carter was gone. Hmm, why would he leave me? Did he plan to drop me here then leave? I started to grow worried by the second. I started wondering off further from the scene when I saw he wasn’t here. As I was walking down the side of the river I started to hear deep chuckles from the woods beside me. I froze in my spot. What the hell is over there?! Oh god, I’m going to die. I’m going to be murdered, tonight I am dying. “H-hello?” I stuttered. I heard some shuffling going on then Carter came into view. “What’s going on Carter?” I questioned. “Ellie I-“ He was cut off by some unknown guy coming out of the darkness. What the fuck was going on? “Baby what’s-“The unknown man stopped when he saw me. My eyes traveled down his torso, he was wearing just his underwear. Oh my god. This unknown man was my best friend. Ian Smith. “What is going on, tell me Ian. Please.” I felt the tears begin to brim my eyes. Was my best friend gay? “You guys know each other?” Carter awkwardly shifted back and forth. “Carter um, I need to take Ellie home. I’ll call you later okay?” Ian scratched the back of his head. I think I heard Carter call out my name but I ignored him. I can’t even think straight. How come Ian couldn’t just tell me? I don’t see why he would hide his sexuality from me. What if he doesn’t trust me like I thought he did? Ugh, friendship sucks. “Ellie, look, we need to talk.” Ian sighed as we were walking to his car. “ What is there to talk about Ian?! You couldn’t even tell me you were gay! I thought we were best friends. Friends who share everything, but I guess not.” I turned around and walked away. Why did I agree to come to this party? Today has been the worst day of my entire life, could it even get any worse? My thoughts were interrupted when I ran into a brick wall. What the hell Ellie, why would a brick wall be at a river? I looked up from the ground to see a silhouette of a guy in front of me. Not just any guy, but Cole Waters. Carter’s best friend infamous bad boy number two. “I’m sorry.” I mumbled looking down. He’s the god of our school, everyone loves him. He is what every girl wants, and every guy wants to be. He’s a total babe. He does what he wants, when he wants. He can’t be tamed.
“What’s your name, babe?” He smirked giving me a glance over. Oh dear Jesus, I feel like my heart is going to leap from inside my body. What am I saying? Get your shit together. Breath, he’s just asking your name. ‘He called you babe’ I thought. No, just answer the boy. “M-my name is Ellie.” I croaked. Oh god, you gave yourself away. Just great, stupid, stupid, stupid. “Why are you not looking at me?” He questioned pulling my face up to look at him. “S-sorry, I need to leave.” I began to walk away but he grabbed my arm. ‘If you stutter one more time I will make you trip and fall.’ I thought angrily. “Do you need a ride? I was leaving anyway.” He turned me around. “No it’s fine I can walk I only-“ I was cut off when he shushed me. Why the fuck did Cole Waters just shush me? “You’re not walking, it will take hours. Just come.” He pulled me through the party. Cole Waters is taking me home, Cole Waters talked to me, Cole Waters. Oh my god, breath. Be cool, you can do this. “So who did you come with?” He questioned as we reached his car. “Oh um, Carter..” I drifted. “Did you see anything?” He raised his eyebrows. “Yes.” I sighed. “Yeah, he’s been secretly getting with Ian Smith. Sucks to find out your best friend is gay.” He said starting his car. “Tell me about it.” I turned my phone on to see loads of messages from my brother. “You look like someone I know.” He tapped his finger on his chin. “Does Colton James ring a bell?” I tried to jog his memory. “Colton! Oh Colton is my boy. We go way back, why?” He looked over at me? “He’s my brother.” I sighed. “What?!” He choked. “Yep” I said popping the P. “Oh my god.” He leaned back in his seat. “I guess you don’t need to know my address huh?” I questioned. “No, wait. How come I never see you when I go to your house then?” He threw me a question to answer my question. “I’m always in my room.” I shrugged my shoulders. After that the conversation ended and I started to drift asleep.
-Cole’s P.O.V-
I looked over and noticed Ellie was asleep. If her brother saw me carrying her in their house he’d probably have a cow then beat the shit out of me. Well, if I saw my little sister being carried by a guy into my house I’d kill his ass. But for now, we have to deal with it. Hopefully Colton won’t jump to any conclusions. I turned my car off once I parked in their driveway and went over to get Ellie out of the car. I debated on whether or not to wake her up but I decided against it. She seems so peaceful. Oh god, I’m turning into a little bitch and I’ve only known her for an hour. Get your shit together Cole. I slide my hand under her legs and one on her back the hoisted her up against my chest. She slightly shifted slightly but cuddled into my chest. I don’t even know this girl, yet here she is cuddled in my chest.
Once I got in the house I heard someone come down the stairs and I froze. Oh god, Colton is going to murder me. Yep, dead.
“What the hell is going on?” Yep, told you. Dead.
