Please know that I used that for lack of a better title. It just popped into my head and it stuck.

It's a nice day and everyone is out and about in town shopping and socializing. I just went to get a few things so I'm here alone enjoying the atmosphere. I can hear playing with a dog not far from where I am, a seller I frequent that has many beautiful hair combs and pins. I gaze reverently at the beautiful ornaments and wonder which one I'd be able to save up for.

"Lovely, aren't they?" I turn to see a very tall, very big man standing next to me with a dango stick in hand. He wore a vibrantly colored kimono, but it was a little worse for wear. Still, his silvery hair gleamed in the sunlight and he seemed as if not a care in the world. "Pretty things for pretty ladies are always something to be seen." He smiled brightly between me and the table. "Especially when they're put together. You would definitely look lovely paired with one." Looking at the assortment, his free hand roamed over each accessory until he so happened to choose the one that I had my eye on. "This one looks like it was meant for you," he said as he picked it up and held it to my hair.

I began to internally flail. Who was this gentle giant of a man and why was he trying to put a comb I can't afford into my hair? Taking the polite step away, I bow to both the man and the seller. "Please, I'm flattered you think so, but I cannot afford such a lovely comb. Nor can I allow a man I do not know to buy it for me."

He frowned in disappointment as he placed the comb down and turned to me. "A pretty lady like yourself deserves a gift now and then." His eyes were so gentle, it sort of hurt that I had to turn down such a gesture.

"That may be, milord, but I cannot do so with someone I do not know. Excuse me." I bowed once more and made my way to the confectioner's as I had a meeting with them I forgot thanks to my need to fill my ocular desires.

I made quick haste when I kicked a small rock that ended up bouncing off a mean looking dog I failed to see. Having offended the beast, he tried to come at me but was tied down for the moment. I walked even faster to put distance when I heard someone yell "Run!" The barking was all I needed as I hefted the hem to my kimono and started hurrying around the stalls and tried to get back to somewhere I thought I saw a place I could climb and get out of the dog's line of sight. I could hear some of the people yell and scream as a few of the men gave chase to the dog. I prayed to whoever it was up there to stop that mean dog before it did some serious damage.

Unfortunately, I failed to pray for a safer escape. I didn't see that some goods have fallen before me in some unrelated confusion and I took flight as I tripped over a box. I squeeze my eyes shut waiting for the painful landing.

It took me a moment before I realize that the hard surface I landed on was not the ground, but a man. Slowly getting up to focus and get the wind back in me, I see it to be the man from the hair comb seller that tried to gift me one. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Here I was... on all fours... over this man in public! Mortification doesn't even begin to cover how I feel right now!

He moaned a bit, his large hand running through his silvery hair as he glanced at what was left of another snack. He frowned in disappointment seeing it covered in dirt then turned to me in surprise. "Heeeey, you're that pretty lady from before."

I quickly edge off him as he slowly sits up and I hear that the dog was caught and returned to his owner. "Y-Yes. Please forgive me, milord! I-I was running from this vicious beast and I didn't watch where I was going and now I-"

"Let's have lunch. You look like you could use it." Standing with ease, a gentle smile on his face, he dusted himself off then helped me up as if I were no more than a rag doll. He bent to get my bag that had fallen from my hand as well. "Allow me to treat a lady to something since you wouldn't accept a gift." He blinked a moment and reached up to stroke my hair. "Your hair is a mess, miss..." He tilted his head as he set things in order for me. I was still in shock for a moment before I responded. "[___], milord." I bowed again feeling foolish and embarrassed.

"Oh, stop with the 'milord' nonsense. Just call me Keiji. I think you could use a drink." And without another word, he takes my hand and leads me off to the local yakitori bar for food and drinks. His large hand and warm smile filling me with something I cannot explain, but don't think I want to have end.
