Okwell this is gonna be longer than 9 chapters now I know lol)
KARAMATSU DID HIS best to keep Todomatsu company. From what he knew, the ghost was lonely and a possible victim of the plague. He wasn't sure if he was bound to the land or not, because the ghost didn't really appear at day. And if he did, he was more see-through than what Karamatsu could see.
One day, as the sun was beginning to set, Karamatsu read a book in the room he stayed at, leaning against the wall. Out of nowhere, Todomatsu phased through the door, rather than calling out or something. The sudden action, surprised Karamatsu, and he immediately shut the book. "Totty, what brings you here?" he asked, trying to hide the book from Todomatsu's view.
It was too late though. The ghost had already noticed. "I just wanted to hang out with you," was his reply. Now he was curious and wanted to know what he was reading. "Hold on, I think I see some nuns heading this way," he claimed, looking through the window. "Huh? You do?" That caught his attention. Todomatsu used this chance to take it. He swiped the book from behind Karamatsu.
The priest noticed and attempted to take it back, but it was out of reach. He tried to grab it, but the ghost moved his arm away and kept Karamatsu there by having a hand on his head and preventing him from moving forward. He was a ghost, but if he chose to he could do crap like that. "What's this?" he asked.
"That's-well- none of your concern, really," Karamatsu answered. It didn't seem like Todomatsu had any intention of giving it back. He skimmed through the pages with one hand. Ah, shit, he thought. I'm illiterate. Kill me. The hell does this shit mean? The fuck? How do people do this? This is just scribbles. Seriously, what the literal fuck?
It was a few moments, Todomatsu realized there were also illustrations. It looked like a person with a shadowy figure, a torch in hand. Without being able to read and tell what they were doing, he was extremely confused and handed Karamatsu the book back to him by tossing it. Karamatsu frantically caught it as it almost fell.
"I have no idea what it says, so it's not interesting," he explained. The priest let out a sigh of relief. Todomatsu glanced at him with suspicion. Why did he want to hide what it was about so badly?
* * *
He walked down the hall of the main room, Todomatsu was sitting on a stool across, waiting for Karamatsu. The temperature shifted. The room felt colder somehow. A gust of wind came from behind him, even though the doors were closed. Karamatsu turned around, looking for any open windows or something. Instead, a man in a cloak with a scythe appeared.
"Alas, is it my turn to die, o heavenly one? Then, I say goodbye to this beautiful world that has taught me so much. My farewells to every--" The man groaned, rolling his eyes. Todomatsu hid behind a statue, nervous. He peeked back in fear.
"Ugh, shut up, I'm not an angel or something, I'm a goddamn grim reaper for fuck's sake."
Karamatsu did not speak and stood awkwardly. "Then, tell me, grim reaper, who delivers death, what is it that you seek in this house of god?" he asked. Ichimatsu internally cringed. Maybe it would be better to take his life and spare the world his painfulness. Why did he even come here? Normally, he'd say something like "no shit" he's come to take his life but this was not the case. At least not yet.
"Surprisingly, no, I've come to see a clergy member or something." Ah, he should have practiced what he was gonna say. He wasn't even sure what he was looking for. Choromatsu explained it to him, but he forgot everything he said! Fuck this. Fuck everything. Except Jyushimatsu. Osomatsu I hope you die, you utter whore, he internally cursed.
"I am a priest," said Karamatsu. Ichimatsu whined inside. This dude was already annoying, now he had to rely on this painful man to save Jyushimatsu and possibly send the devil into damnation? "Uh, no thanks," Ichimatsu replied. Oh god, he literally just said that. Meh, oh well, what's done is done.
"Well, there isn't anybody around at the moment but me. May I offer assistance?"
Fucking kill yourself.
"Ugh, I guess," the grim reaper replied. Then he caught a scent of something. He sniffed the air. Sure, the priest did smell weird, but it wasn't him. It was something else. Ichimatsu decided to let it go for now. There were other important things to focus on. "Then, what is it you need? If it's a living human, I can't," Karamatsu said, turning away, eyes closed and fist to his chest.
What a dramatic little bitch.
"No, the devil is around. You're a church guy, so uh, how to phrase this, get rid of it? Oh, and uh, it's possessing an angel. The angel has yellow eyes, the cunt has red eyes. The angel has red eyes," Ichimatsu said slowly. He wasn't sure how ro tell the priest exactly what he wanted. "What? I'm not exactly sure how to do that, as if performing an exorcism and you would on a human and demon. . ."
Karamatsu hummed. "I will act, but I must be back before noon. And we must be back now," he said. He had his fist curled up under his chin. "Tch. Find with me," Ichimatsu replied. So needy. . . Hold on. . .
His purple eyes moved to the side a bit. Ichimatsu squinted a bit and saw something white. He walked over to the end of the room. Karamatsu panicked. "A-ah, um, don't--" Ichimatsu looked behind the statue, and saw a crouching Todomatsu. The ghost looked freaked out. "U-Uh, hey," he waved. The grim reaper frowned even more. Todomatsu put his hand down immediately, practically sweating buckets.
"You're keeping a ghost here?" Ichimatsu turned to Karamatsu. "Uh, well, I mean, Totty's just, um, he's kinda," Karamatsu couldn't even speak properly. "Well, time to say goodbye kiddo 'cause I'm gonna take your soul." Ichimatsu held his scythe behind him, ready to swing. If he hit Todomatsu, his soul would be taken and his ghost would cease to exist.
"N-No, hold on-!!" Karamatsu interfered. He couldn't stop this eventual fate. He knew it would come, but hadn't actually prepared and more of waited. "Y-you said after we save this angel, yes? We're short on time, right?" the priest said. Ichimatsu put down his weapon. Todomatsu was shaking and shielding his head with his arms.
"Fucking whatever. You're right. Let's just go," he said, walking away. "If you intend to bring that crybaby ghost, I don't give a damn. Better not be whining on the way," Ichimatsu warned. Karamatsu and Todomatsu exchanged looks. They both knew he would go with them, but Todomatsu would have to depart soon.
With that in mind, they both followed the grim reaper.
