since, the ending came a little confusing and there are questions left unanswered, i'll explain what happened right from the start.
summary
the scene unfolds on a wedding event. jeongguk was dressed in a formal attire, eyes glossy and heart hammering in his rib-cage while gaze fixated on the girl in the arms of his hyung.
jeongguk's heart shattered into million pieces once he saw the exchange of vows between the couple, the smile painted on his face is nothing but a pure facade. the boy tried his very best to squeak the words "congratulations" to his love of life even when deep inside his whole body screamed to steal her away and have the girl all for himself.
right after that wedding, jeongguk has a flight booked to new york the next day, but he kept the fact to his friends saying that he would go away, far from liliane
only five of his hyungs knows about his flight while taehyung and liliane actually didn't know about it, jeongguk kept the information a tight secret between the six of them.
jeongguk began packing his things as all of his furniture were supposed to be shipped on new york and all that was left unattended was a big brown box with a size of a treasure box—like the once we see in movies, where gold and wealth can be obtained.
the box held so so so many wonderful and sad feelings of the unrequited love that jeongguk held for his childhood sweetheart for almost ten years.
liliane and jeongguk were childhood sweethearts, met at the age of eight, became bestfriends on the spot. the two were inseparable ball of sunshine enough that they made a promise—when they grew up they'll stay forever together but was broken.
the sweet sweet promise of two, young and innocent children was buried seven feet, forgotten and was shut off into the world seeming like only a sweet memory.
jeongguk at the age of 12 found out what love meant—in the eyes of his best-friend slash childhood sweetheart.
jeongguk never saw it coming that his' heart would ever feel the uneasy, heart wrenching beats that was very unusual and yet pleasing feelings for the girl he grew up with.
the boy realized his feelings and so, decided to write a letter to confess. he would always wanted to give it to the girl but immediately let the mice eat his poor heart.
everyday then, he would write letters to her hoping that one day even just one of the letters may be read by the one and only person who was intended to be given off.
jeongguk's love-letter making then took for almost about 10 years. ridiculous as it may seem but the boy continued to write letters, find the courage to give it to her but will then back out on the last minute just before the girl could ever hint of the boy's true feelings.
the letters he wrote soon became as many as someone might've think he's insane. the boy didn't have the courage to burn or tore the papers as it held every single fellings he had felt towards the girl—happiness with just by being with her, guilt whenever they fought, sadness when she met taehyung and being alive just because she's there.
the box that held jeongguk's every bit of screaming longing was not attended unto—so jimin, a helpful hyung asked the boy what to do with the treasure box. even if it hurt so much to let the box go, jeongguk decided to leave it as it is.and as much as jeongguk wanted to take it with him, he didn't as he really wanted to let go.
time flew fast and it was the day of jeongguk's departure and the boys bid the bunny goodbye, although on the other side of the picture—liliane decided to visit her best-friend's apartment only to find an empty space with no traces of him around.
the girl searched for her best-friend only to find a brown box. curiosity got the best of her and when she opened it, only heartbreak came to her.
jimin soon returned to jeongguk's apartment but when he came he saw a crying mess liliane while countless of letters scattered on the floor.
not told on the story: remember that liliane said these lines, right?
"why did anyone never told me?!"
liliane, upon knowing the truth, fresh and youthful feelings of her first love came flooding back in. she never thought jeongguk felt the same way as her that's why she pretended and forced herself to look like she lived taehyung when deep inside she was dying to be with him all along too.
but everything was all too late to bring back and fix things.
twist: on the very last chapter, well ... jeongguk died. the date was the exact day after liliane's wedding with taehyung. liliane was just about to run for jeongguk to book another flight but before she could do so, seokjin received a message that his plane crashed.
the end.

Who knows, i might put another twist at the end of the epistolary version **tbh, this story was kinda already posted on my side acct but i decided to move it here cuz i wanna keep it low profile there :)**
