Olive Hornby followed Myrtles thoughts, criticising her every move. When she tried to escape, Olive demanded where she was going.
"To see my brother" Myrtle cried. "My older brother". She didn't have a brother. But at least was enough to keep Olive and her gang away from her. Myrtle ran out, tears streaming down her face.
After wandering around the train to calm herself down, Myrtle went to look for a compartment. Eventually, she found one. It only had one person. A strange boy. She asks if she could sit down. He nodded, staring a her, almost accusingly. His bright green eyes pierced her, flecks of blue and hazel shimmering amongst the deep green. They gave her a sense of fulfilment, like happiness, except purer. Like at the end of a war, mixed in with all the sadness and loss, is a future. The knowledge that things will get better. He softened his gaze and looked down.
"Hello", said Myrtle, "I had some trouble finding a compartment, you know."
"You walked past here several times", he replied. "I could have sworn your eyes were red."Myrtle looked down, her checks growing hot. The boy laughed. "I was joking. It's nice to have someone to talk to."
"Where are your friends?" Myrtle asked.
"Oh, they are in another compartment, they annoy me with there pathetic conversations so I don't usually sit with the on the train. What about your friends?"
"Umm, same as you." Myrtle lied. "What's your name?"
"Alex" he said. "And you are...."
"Myrtle", she said.

Myrtle and Alex talked for the rest of the journey. It turns out, he is a Ravenclaw second year too (That means we can talk in the common room too, Myrtle thought). He loves wizard chess as well and needs glasses, but wears contacts as glasses make his eyes look weird. He is on the quidditch team (OMG!!!!).Myrtle lay in bed that night, thinking about the day, smiling. Despite her meanness, Olive was the reason Myrtle met Alex, so Myrtle quietly thanked her before she drifted off into the sweet pleasure of sleep.
