4. Dalliance

Those words that I love,
That manner that I adore,
Emanated from the person that I admire.

He stands tall, confident,
I surge in pride.
My man, mine.

My eyes trace his,
My lips seek his ,
My body craves his touch.

But he did not look twice at me.
Maybe I was just an inconsequential speck,
In the plane of his existence.

My feelings have been played with.
Not his fault, but mine alone.
For, though he was far too good for me, I dared to hope.

My mind is a mess for,
Hitherto filled with the dreams of our future,
It lies now, not unlike shattered glass.

In this circus of life,
My heart is left swinging,
Suspended like an acrobat.

I smile like a queen but,
My heart sheds ethereal tears,
This dalliance, a terrible wound.

But who's to be faulted for my loss?
Me, and my hopes alone.
