Part 5: Examination

"JASON! RUN, RUN AWA-AHHH AAAAHHHH!!" "JASON! HELP ME! HELP ME!" "Jason please....please kill me, kill me....KILL MEEEEE!!" I sit up suddenly in my bed, panting, and sweating from my dream, I've been having nightmares since I was on the planet, each one makes me live through the slaughter of my friends and team. I slowly catch my breath and calm down as I look around, I look at the clock on the desk "9:30!!" I yell and jump up, I quickly throw on the clothes I had on yesterday, except I don't have time to tie my boots and zip up vest, I'm in such a rush that by the time I'm heading out of my room I'm just buttoning my pants. As I open I'm greeted by a surprised face, it's Amanda. I stop myself from running into her and say "oh, hey Amanda, sorry for sleeping I-" I'm cut off as she holds a hand up and says "it's fine, just come to the cafeteria when your done getting ready, me and samuels were wanting to have a talk to you, plus I think it be best if you ate something" she says and begins to walk towards the cafe "thanks!" I say as she walks off "don't mention it" she says without turning. I look left and right around the hall and see that it's empty, I figure that everyone must have gone to do their duties, while I was left to sleep in, why didn't anybody wake me? I ponder on this question for a second before shrugging it off and heading to the bathrooms. As I enter I'm surprised to see that the showers are conjoined by a doorway. I nod thinking that it's good to know, although I'm not very comfortable with showering with other guys, I've never been, it's just something I never got used to in the corps. I walk over to the showers and splash some water in my face, I know I wouldn't have enough time to take a shower so I wash my hands afterwards and straighten my clothes and tie my boots. Afterwards I use the bathroom and head towards the cafe, along the way I see a few people walk through the halls and pass me, I look at their belts as they pass and see their weapons, shoot I forgot my gun! I think about heading back to my room but decide not to, I figured that I wouldn't need it. So I head into the cafe, it's empty, should've known, breakfast must've ended not to long ago. I see Samuels and Amanda in a corner table, I quickly head over, not wanting to keep them waiting, as I walk up I hear a little bit of their conversation, it's not very interesting though, mainly about what's for lunch. As I sit down next to Samuels he says "ah, good your here, me and Amanda were just about to go look for you." He smirks a little afterwards. Amanda just rolls her eyes. "So what did you want to talk about?" I ask. Samuels opens his mouth to speak but Amanda interrupts him and says "we were thinking about leaving" I look at her confused and a little surprised. Samuels raises his hand and says "now now we're not jumping to assumptions but yes, me and Amanda were thinking about leaving" I look back and forth at them and say "why?" Amanda sighs and says "because, we've already dealt with enough of Weylands bullshit" she says and crosses her arms, obviously still a little mad. "Forgive Amanda for her anger Jason, she's already dealt with such creatures that you dealt with" my eyes widen in surprise as I hear that and look at Amanda "you've dealt with xenomorphs?" She looks at me and slowly nods. "She dealt with them on a station back in the Milky Way, except she didn't have a ship to escape on for the longest time, she also nearly killed herself to save her crew members" says Samuels. I look at Amanda confused and she says "one of the bastards somehow got on our ship, so I jettisoned me and it out into space" I look at Samuels who just nods "luckily she was still wearing her space suit so they were able to pick her back up" I look at Amanda and say "wow, that was very brave, have you ever thought about becoming a marine" Amanda glares at me and leans forward "I'd rather stay an engineer than work for those yutani bastards" she says angrily and hits the table. She gets up and starts to walk away. I look at Samuels who says "her mother worked for Weyland when she went missing, she went to the station to find her ships flight rep, but sadly they had erased everything" I look down at the ground and say quietly "damn" Samuels nods and says "you've been looking for your family to am I correct" I look back up at Samuels in a confused look and say "how did you know I was looking for my father?" Samuels smiles and says "because, I downloaded you file" he taps his temple as he says this. I had nearly forgotten Samuels was an android. I sigh and say "so you guys are leaving?" Samuels sighs as well and says "most likely Jason, most likely, I don't think Amanda can deal with anymore of those things" I nod and and say "yea, I know I can't" Samuels stands up and says "they're most likely going to take us to another facility soon" I stand up as well and say "yeah, most likely for 'observation'" I hold up my hands and do quotations as I say observations, which makes Samuels laugh. He nods smiling and says "yes most likely, most likely" I nod as well and for a second we just stand there, kinda awkwardly in honesty, until Samuels says "well I better go catch up to her, and you better get something to eat" he pats my shoulder as he does. I nod and say "right right, well see ya later Samuels" he nods and begins to walk out. I head over to the counter and see that most of the food is put up, but thankfully some bread rolls, fruit, and even some eggs and bacon are still out. I smile as I see it all but think that most of it has to be artificial or something, but to my surprise when i sit down and take a bite out of the bacon, it tastes like real bacon! I smile and close my eyes as I eat it, since I haven't had real tasting food in forever I savor it and eat as much as I can, I hadn't realized how starving I was till now.
