I stand at the edge

The drop long and fatal

Far away, a man yells something

I cannot hear.

Do you not remember that you took my ears from me?

no longer

I wear simple clothes

Nothing more than a shirt and a chain

You said I needed nothing else.

It shows off the long scars on my legs.

And my arms.

And my face.

But the worst ones are on my back. You remember, don't you?

No Longer

My blank, soulless eye stares at you, not comprehending.

If only I had both.

But I'm afraid that the other one is mounted on your wall, remember?

NO LONGER

My smile stretches across my face, showing how you took joy in tearing my teeth out.

Your sMILe ReMiNdS mE.

YOu'Re ClOsE eNoUgH tO tOuCh NoW.

I close my eyes as is plunge.

It makes everything lEsS sCArY.

"It's such a shame. She was quite expensive." Said a thing, "And quite the fun too."

"Yes, you must take better care of your pets. They are getting quite rare, I hear. Such a shame. There were so many of them at the start." Another thing hissed, reaching over to hold the first one's tentacle with it's own.

"Heh. It's their fault that they are not reproducing. It's for the common good! They were quite ugly, with their pale skin and sunken eyes. No tentacles, either." Said a third thing.

"Yes, you are right. After all, these humans, as they call themselves, are rather weak." Said the first one.
