Persistance Hunting

You were hard to get,
But I live for the chase

So I take your glass-blown heart,
And crack it in two,
So I may drink the sweet nectar of you love,
And leave your shattered trust in my wake.

But you are so careful with your heart, holding it just out of my reach,
Like Tantalus with his grapes and water.
You give me so little,
So I am left not sated but not starving,
Your heart, held together by crazy glue
And your love that seeps out through the cracks that form
Before you know it,
Carefully collected and served to friends often,
But not to me,
Never enough of the nectar for me to leave you,
For now I understand,
I may be the hunter, like the shark or leopard,
But you hunt like a human,
With persistence.

Maybe
If I give you a bit of my heart,
You'd give me yours.
