They tried to warn us
But we didn't listen.
They warned us about fog,
And I got interested.
So we tried to warn them,
But they dismissed us.
For they were but savages, they claimed,
And I was a child, furthermore a woman,
Whose mind (had no doubt been) tainted by them.
But when the fog came, they blamed us.
They hunted my friends and called me a
WITCH
They tried to drown me; and when that didn't work, burn me, when the
FOG
Snatched people away, whole families gone without a trace,
Their houses and belongings gone, as if the were
NEVER THERE
So I stopped trying to help them and joined my friends.
But when the danger comes, don't say we didn't
WARN YOU
(but they still refuse to listen)
