~~~ Ali's POV ~~~
People stared.
Within an hour everyone at the Summit knew about me being Black's mate.
I couldn't leave our rooms without facing identical looks of pity and sympathy . . . and protective anger.
I was their Mother Of Luna after all.
And I'd just been mated with a man they believed to be soulless and too viscous to know love.
They had no doubt passed the news on to their packs back home which meant I was bombarded with Tellings that night as people found out.
Tellings are short visions that like my premonitions can pop up at any time. Thankfully they don't cause me any pain or discomfort, I simply see a few second clip or freeze frame that momentarily takes over my vision but is then gone in a flash.
They don't show me the future, but rather give me snatches of what's happening in the present - occasionally something from the past if it's important for me to see it - but they basically allow me to keep tabs on all the packs and make sure everyone is okay, letting me know if anything big happens.
Like the news of me and Black.
All night I saw countless flashes of people hearing the news. People gasping in shock, some getting angry thinking that I had somehow been stolen from them, worrying about what was going to happen now, had I rejected him? - had he rejected me?
Then I saw them starting to ask the question that I was asking myself:
'Was I going to move to his pack, as is tradition?'
For two days I hid from the attention and roamed our suite with that question ruling my thoughts.
My family were naturally scared, devastated and shocked - sharing the opinion of Black that everyone else seemed to have. However after initially freaking out they had calmed down and we had spoken about it - granted I did cheat slightly and make my calming Luna energy a bit stronger.
I smiled as I remembered our conversation.
"Ali honey, James and your mother and I have had a talk and we want to start by saying that whatever decisions you make, we promise that we will support you whole heartedly."
I'd tested that promise.
"Well, you ought to know that he doesn't want to reject me," my mother's hand tightened on my father's and James tensed though he hid it well, ". . . and I told him that I didn't want to reject him either."
At this my mother gasped.
"Oh Ali!" and moved to wrap me in her arms, "my baby."
I pulled away gently and took her hand as I looked at my father and brother who were frozen on the sofa.
"I can't . . . I can't just reject him because he has this reputation and everyone seems to hate him. I don't know him and I gave him my word that I wouldn't judge him on his reputation-"
James cut in.
"Ali, this your mate we're talking about, okay? And that sounds like you're Luna talking more than you, telling you to be fair and just and whatever. What do YOU feel Ali? Listen to your own instincts for once because I can't believe you could feel anything for that tyrant." he spat.
My wolf flared with anger and I was momentarily surprised at how attached she had become to her mate, she didn't like anyone insulting him and had turned defensive. I soothed her as my father spoke.
"James enough! Do not insult him in front of Ali," he gave me a little knowing glance as his eyes flicked to my mum, his mate, "her wolf will not take kindly to that I can assure you. But Ali, your brother has a point . . . showing him fairness seems like something you being Luna has caused, it may not be the best reason to consider giving him a chance."
