I stand there in silence. I am motionless, lifeless, knowing what is to come and yet, waiting for it with open arms. My hands are trembling, my knees are weak, and my voice was gone. The night is silent. Nothing alive, but the fear that consumes every inch of my body. I am no longer there. I run, run to a place where no one can follow, no one, but me. Looking out the window I see the man that I despise with a passion. He is heading my way. I hear his heavy footsteps that burned the ground I myself use as a foundation. I wait and watch in fear, hoping that I will be able to get out of it in time. He slowly opens the door and I embraced myself.
"Hello, Fa-" I start to say before his cold hard hand flies across my face. Tears begin to form in my eyes, they burn, full of hatred.
"How dare you!" he yells dropping his bag and slamming the door behind him.
"I'm sorry Father." I weakly say holding my cheek. He unbuckles his belt...it's coming. Fear coursed through me as he raises his arm and swings with all his might. I try to dodge the blow, but only find myself on the floor. "Father, please! Don't, it hurts! I'm sorry!" I cry. My cries worsen his temper, he starts to kick me. I should be used to this by now, but the pain still surprises my shaking, beaten body. As he continues the beating I am sure I hear a crack. The pain surges through me as I am corned like vulnerable prey setting its own trap with no way out. Every breath I take is painful, ending with even more painful screams.
"Stop this crap! Do you know what hurts...do you know what hurts?!" he yells.
"No, I don't!" I yell back, regretting raising my voice at him. I wish he would leave his addiction, he only acts this way when he uses it to think of her.
"Coming home every night to an ungrateful, hideous, disrespectful b*tch like you hurts! I want you gone, every night I am reminded of what I can't have! I want you dead!" Every word that comes out hits me like an arrow through the heart, adding to the pain. Something is wrong. Something went wrong. I just know it. The only thing I was able to say was I'm sorry. Even though I knew I did nothing wrong.
"Oh you will be sorry!" he spits. With a menacing look in his eyes, he pulls me by the hair and drags me into the kitchen.
Is he actually going to kill me? Is that why he's taking me into the kitchen, so he can grab a knife and stab me a million times? My mind was filled with questions I hoped would be answered shortly.
buzz...buzz...buzz...
His phone went off interrupting him. He let go of my hair and walked to the door. I took this as a chance to get away. I quickly ran to my room and jumped into my bed. Before I buried myself away Lolly, my dog, crept inside. She was the only thing that I loved and who loved my back. I pulled her close to me. She looked at me with worried eyes and licked my fallen tears. Even she knew that things were bad. "It's okay girl. I'm okay." I whispered to her. I laid there looking at the only thing that saw me. My fear didn't go away because I knew that there was more to come night after night after night.
