After a few days, I was able to gather creative people that were needed in making this concert into reality. We had stage directors, we had choreographers, musical directors, orchestra conductors, technical personas, and of course, the rest of the production team.
Judy instructed us on what we were supposed to do and as usual, I was the one responsible for the publishing and advertising the said concert that was two months and few weeks from that day.
Two weeks later, I was working with the tarp designs as well as the advertising production when my phone suddenly rang. I picked it up and saw that it was Tan! My heart began to go out of control but I greeted him 'casually.' "Hey Tan, what's up?"
"Hey Ru, can you come by the hospital?" He asked. He sounded so distraught.
"Tan what happened? Is everything okay? Are you okay?" I asked with wariness visibly laced in my voice. I immediately got up and grabbed my bag and my car keys and looked at Judy. I mouthed 'hospital' and she immediately understood and nodded.
"Well not really...I crashed my car into a wall because I almost hit someone by accident..." he continued to explain what happened and I kept on walking towards my car. I dropped the phone and drove as fast and as safe as I could towards the hospital. I rushed down towards the front desk and inquired. "Hello, I'm looking for Tan, Tan Fujioka." I told the nurse. She scanned through the record book and asked, "Who are you to him?"
"I'm his boyfriend." I blurted out. The nurse looked like her face was hit by a bunch of tomatoes turning red. She gave me the room number and just like that, I dashed through the hallway. I found his room and opened the door. I saw Tan laying in the hospital bed. I walked in and rushed beside him. "Hey, how are you?" I asked with concern.
"The doctor says I need to stay for at least three days so they can monitor my right arm and my head because they are afraid that I may have a concussion." He said, sounding like it's the most normal thing to say.
"You should have driven slowly Tan. You know that you're supposed to drive slowly. You should be thankful that you did not run someone or else you'd be in deep trouble..." I continued to ramble when I noticed that he was smiling at me. I stopped talking and took a seat. "I'm sorry. I was just so worried about you." I told him, sincerely. I grabbed my right arm with his left hand and let me take a seat in the bed. He pulled me into a hug and I hugged him back. I slowly rose and saw a streak of tears in his eyes. "I'm so happy that you're here with me Ru." I wiped his tears and smiled.
"I'm always here for you Tan. You know that." And before my very eyes, Tan, my beloved best friend who was married to Jane kissed me. Tan kissed me in the hospital bed!
I was stunned for a moment but then my lips kissed him back.
We both pulled, chasing our breaths for air. I looked into his eyes and I can tell how much love is there for me. 'God, I've never asked for too much. But I can't seem to hold myself with Tan.' I thought to myself.
"I missed you so much Ru."
"I missed you so much too Tan."
My body jolted upwards as I heard the door open. I saw Jane rushing into the room and pushing me to the side, hugging Tan. "Honey, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to pick up my phone directly because..." she explained, but Tan cut him off.
"My arm hurts!" he exclaimed.
