I went home and showered. I was contemplating whether I should tell Tan about Wei because I know even though Tan and I had sort of a history behind us, he's still my best friend. I decided not to, but then my hands just grabbed my phone and called his cell.

A few rings later he answered his phone. "RU! I'm so glad you called!" he greeted, excitement visibly heard in his voice. Wow, I can't believe it has already been three months since I last heard his voice. I missed him a lot. "How are you Tan?" I asked while smiling like a creep.

"I'm fine I guess. Business had taken most of my time. I'm planning on opening a branch in Cagayan." He said. Wow! That's amazing. "Woooah, congratulations Tan. I'm so proud of you." I smiled again. I am really proud of him. Since knowing him all these years, he's a very passionate guy at what he does.

"Since you called now, what's going on?" he asked. He still knows me so well.

"Nothing much. I got a new job, and there's a concert that I'm co-managing." I said.

"A concert?! Wow, that's HUGE Ru!" he exclaimed. "Who's the artist you're working with?"

"Well do you remember Wei?" I asked.

"Wei, you mean Wei Lim in senior high school?"

"Yes, that's the artist that I'm working with." I told him.

"Oh, I never took Wei as a singer though. But that's...but he used to bully you a lot." He said, his voice sounded protective.

"I know but if you only see him now, he changed Tan." I told him. There was a long pause over the other end of the line.

"You sound so happy...Ru." His voice suddenly sounded dull, unhappy.

"Well, he just..." I continued explaining to him what happened earlier with all of the details.

"Ru, I...I'm happy for you doing all of these productive things but I don't want you to get hurt. You know how much I love you." His voice trailed a little bit softer at the end. I felt my heart was going to burst again. I'm just so happy that even though Tan and I didn't get happy ever after, in the end we both know who we truly love and that's between the two of us.

"Tan, I know. But if I want to move on and fix my life, I think it's a good idea to be with Wei." I reasoned out.

"What do you mean by moving on and fixing your life Ru? Are you saying you don't love me anymore? Are you saying that I messed up your life? Are you choosing that asshole from me?" he sounded as angry as he spat those words.

"Tan, what do you expect me to do? Wait until we grew older and for your wife to die so I could get the chance that I've been wanting all my life with you? Don't be unreasonable." I said, a little bit frustrated.

"But Ru, you told me that you love me." He argued.

"I do, I still do, and I'll continue to love you Tan. Some things are just not for us to control." I said. My heart is now shattered again, ever so broken.

"Ru...if ever something bad happens to you I won't let that asshole get away." He said, sounding so possessive.

"I understand. Thank you for your concern Tan. So, how's your wife?" I asked teasingly.

"Please, you know I just married her because of my dad." He sounded so bitter. I just wish that Tan had his way in his life. But then again, some things in life are just not for us to control.

"Well, then I'm going to go to bed Tan. It's nice to hear your voice again." I said smiling like a fool again.

"You too Ru. I miss you so much. Come by the café some time?" he invited.

"Sure. I miss you too Tan, Good night." I said as I ended the call.

I felt so happy hearing the love of my life again, but I'm also frustrated with Wei and his confession. Lord, I did not ask for a very complicated love story, what is happening in my life!
