Evelyn POV
Five thousand two hundred and seventy six second until I can finally leave this hell hole of a school just to go back home to sleep my life away into the next week of spring break. Not caring what anyone thinks about how I live my life. I look around my classroom and see posters of math equations and I think to myself 'What am I doing here?' I'm just wasting away just like every other day. I stop daydreaming and turn back to my teacher.
"The exponential function ez can be defined as the limit of (1 + z/N)N, as N approaches infinity, and thus eiπ is the limit of (1 + iπ/N)N..." Mr. Jackson continues lecturing the class about Euler's Identity.
I look to the front corner of the room to find Autumn, my best friend. Autumn is paying attention to Mr. Jackson writing down notes. She's the only thing keeping me in this class, actually she's the only thing keeping me alive. I catch her eye across the room, her big beautiful green eyes glistened when I looked at her.
She mouths to me, "Hang in there." as she smirks and turns back around to the board with marker all over it of useless mathematical equations and explanation. I look down at my notebook and continue to doodle. If you looked at every spiral I owned you will see what teachers do to me. They give me stress, anxiety, and extreme boredom. After what felt like a decade the bell rings, I quickly pick my stuff up and rush to the door but not until I hear someone call my name.
"Evelyn! Come back here." I brace myself for all of my peers harsh words as I was interfering with the first day of freedom, "Move bitch" I hear one under his breath. I sigh and roll my eyes walking back through the crowd. I get to Mr. Jackson's desk. He hates me. Nothing I do pleases him, so why care anymore for his class?
"Evelyn, I have emailed and contacted you're parents-" I stop him, "guardians, they're my guardians. Not my parents." He looks at me with annoyance but continues, "I have emailed and contacted your guardians to explain to them that you are failing my class but no one has contacted me back." I signed and prepared to explain to him all over again my situation but even before I could open my mouth he speaks once again.
"I'm putting you in one of my Saturday classes to get your grade backup, until you can prove to me that you can handle my class again I will dismiss you from the class, are we clear?" I nodded my head not wanting to stay any longer than I had to. With a wave of his hand I was dismissed. I turned and went my way.
As I walked down the empty hallway to my locker all I could think about was what I was going to do about tonight. Right before rounding the corner to my locker someone wrapped their arms around my waist and whispered in my ear, "I can't wait for tonight". Her soft angelic voice sends shivers down my body. I look to see Autumn letting go of my waist to go open my locker. I was oblivious that I had completely stopped in the middle of the hallway when Autumn came up to me again.
"What's wrong love? Are you ready for tonight? Or are you scared perhaps?" She looks at me wiggling her eyes at me. I laugh at her and shook my head to tell her that I wasn't scared but indeed ready for tonight.
"Well then what are we waiting for? Come on!" With a grab of my hand she drags me to her car, all the way back to her house. The car ride was silent with myself deep in my thoughts. Autumn has been my best friend since I could even remember, she's been my sidekick since day one and has never let me down. We know everything about each other but i've been hiding things from her for about a year now. It pains me knowing that I can't come clean to her about how I feel. How I truly feel about my home life. How I truly feel about myself. How I truly feel about her. The thing about Autumn is that she's very close with me and to her it's normal but certain things she does makes me want her to go further.
"Evelyn, we're here." She reached over and unbuckled my seat belt. Her perfume still lingering from this morning. I close my eyes and take in this moment but before I knew it she was already in her house. I throw my head back into the headrest.
"What the hell is up with me?" I whisper to myself "Just make a move, just make a damn move." With the last word I step out of the car and make my way inside. I take off my shoes and place them in the spot just for me. To Autumn's family I am one of them. If anything were to go bad they have the door opened. I've always been jealous of how nicely decorated Autumns house has been. Jessica or how she likes to be called Jess, Autumn's mother, is an interior decorator. Her taste in interior design is traditional, she create spaces that always in style, mixing in a few accessories to keep her home look amazing.
"Evelyn? Is that you?" Jess yells down the hall, before getting around the corner I can hear the sounds of her shoes knowing the she's going out for the night. Right before I could even say a word she comes around the corner in a beautiful black elegant dress with some wedges. "How do I look?" She spins around. "You look-" I was interrupted, "You look stunning mom". Autumn peeks around the corner smiling. Jess turns around to face her daughter with a hug. "Thank you my dear, are you sure that Casper is going to like it?" Jess looks herself in a mirror she had hanging in the hall.
"Mom, if Casper don't fall head over heals for you then you should just kick him to the street". With that they hug, and Jess is out the door on her way to her date. Casper and Jess have been talk ever since Autumn's dad left them two years ago. Casper is a great man and I think he will make Jess and Autumn happy. Autumn walks over to me. She is a couple of inches shorter than I, me only being 5'5.
"What's taking you so long? I've been waiting for you". With that she intertwined her hand with my and we walk to her room. We enter and a fort was set up with pillows and blankets all laid out. On the top of the fort fairy lights were strung up. Within the fort popcorn and her laptop was sitting just waiting to be used. "So, what do you think?" Autumn steps forward her back to me. She takes in what masterpiece she's done with her room.
All I could see was her. All I could think about was how beautiful she looked right now. Her long brown hair tied back into a ponytail. She turns back around and stares back at me and takes steps forward closing the gap between the both of us. I could feel her breath on my neck, I shivered closing my eyes trying not to tackle her with kisses. She looked up at me and for a moment, I felt sparks between us. Nothing I have ever felt before.
She leans closer. Her lips inches away from mine. I can feel my heart pounding, if it pounded any faster my heart would jump out of my chest. She looks at my lips and I look at hers. She licks her lips once and then one more time. 'What is going on? What's happening?' I questioned without saying a word. I feel my hands start to twitch wanting just to hold her and never leave her side. She looks back up at me again and closes her eyes. 'Is this really happening' I think to myself. I close mine and before I knew it I was standing alone.
