Sofia's POV

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

Herd. The way to start the week.Herd was what use to be school, but with a lot more technology. There's no lockers, only rooms and halls. We only have to be here for 3hours anyway.  But it's not the learning I hate, it's the other people. There's snobs, jerks and just flat out annoying people all over.

"Sofia." The annoying, edited voice called. I turned around and saw a pale, glittered skinned girl with pale pink hair and pale purple eyes. I guess pale was the thing.

"What, Lanish?" I grumbled.

"You would look great with electric blue hair with yellow eyes." She flashed a snow white smile. Lanish knows I would never change but she loves to tease me about it.

"I'm not changing." I snarked and continued my way to the learning lab. Once I walked in, I found an empty pod and sat in it. I rested my arm in the arm rest. I hated this. The other people came in then the screen rolled down. Everyone sat in a pod and a countdown began on the screen.

15

Everyone's arms had to be in the armrest. It was required.

14

My arms rest and the straps wrapped around my wrist and lower arm, towards my elbow.

13

I put my head back into the head rest.

12

A strap grew from the headrest and wrapped around my forehead.

11

All of the bands began to glow blue.

10

From the arm rest, a mechanical small arm came out.

9

The needle from the arm slowly creeped out.

8

From the head band, a tail inserted my neck into the hard ware installed inside me.

9

The needle slowly injected into my left arm.

7

I gritted my teeth in hatred and pain.

6

All the bands slowly turned white.

5

All of the lights began to dim.

4

Some kind of liquid was shot in my arm.

3

I got drowsy.

2

My eyes closed themselves.

1

The learning began.

Learning now is nothing like it use to be. We were all practically dead for 8 hours. Our bodies were lifeless, sitting in pods. We all sat in pods while the system exercised our brains and worked on the hardware. We had to be put to sleep because if we got distracted we could mess up the hardware. It was only 8 hours though because, well, it was to kill time. We had a 30 minute break though after the first 4 hours. Then we had to return to our assigned rooms. They were assigned alphabetical order by last names. Sadly,  I was stuck with Lanish.

See, Lanish and I use to be best friends. We would hang out all the time and do everything together. We were inseparable, until she changed. She got tattoos, dyed her hair, her eye color,  even her skin color. She always got mad at me because I never wanted to change. We always fought and eventually didn't want to be friends anymore. She actually got so made at me once she went to the council and accused me of being a heretic. THAT was not fun. The council had men search my house and my mind. It was terrible. They found me innocent but they told Lanish they understand why she thought I was one because I hadn't changed. Way to show fairness to everyone, council.

Suddenly, my eyes opened and all the straps on the pod came undone. The arm bands were removed and the needle was gone. The lights flicked on and everyone got up. Lunch time.
