Sorry for the late update, got a small case of writers block.

Dedication to Neelam for all the nagging and the whining about when this update would be posted. Your complaining was much appreciated (please note the sarcasm)

Pic is an example of what fire spirits can do. Song is She Will Be Loved.

Sophie's POV

"Oh my god..." I groaned, staggering on throbbing feet into my room and collapsing onto the couch. Being a drama student was hard and exhausting and painful and so not worth all the shit that comes with it. I wouldn't change it for the world. Reaching over, I dug out a marshmallow from the abandoned bag on the slightly scorched table and snapped my fingers, roasting the fluffy treat with the flame now flickering on my fingertip. When you've been sleep deprived for over a week, you kinda rely on sugary foods to keep you going.

"Beauty queen of only eighteen, she had some trouble with herself," I sang as I gathered enough energy to roll off the couch and stumble towards the mini fridge in the corner. "He was always there to help her, she always belonged to someone else."

"I drove for miles and miles and wound up at your door!" a voice sang back from the room next door as I rummaged around for one of my energy drinks among the various cans of iced coffee, milk and bottled water.

"I fed you so many times but somehow I want more!" I added dramatically while opening the lid and attempting to drink (which epically failed resulting in a blue stain on my nice white shirt. That was my best shirt man and now it's ruined)

"I DON'T MIND SPENDING EVERYDAY, OUT ON YOUR CORNER IN THE POURING RAIN!! LOOK FOR THE GIRL WITH THE BROKEN SMILE!! ASK HER IF SHE WANTS TO STAY A WHILE!!" we belted out together. "AND SHE WILL BE LOVED!! AND SHE WILL BE LOVED!!"

"Shut up Aisha!" came a muffled yell from the other side of the wall.

"Never!"

A loud knocking drew my attention away from another of my neighbors petty arguments. Strange, who was visiting this late in the afternoon? "State your name and business!" I commanded, marching towards the door.

"Kate Harrison general, I come in peace." came the reply along with the sound of heels snapping to attention. I opened the door with a flourish.

"Solider Harrison!" I remarked in a perfect British accent. "It good to see you alive and kicking seeing as you were proclaimed missing in action earlier today!"

"Sorry about that General Griffin," she apologized after saluting. "But a higher power required my presence and alas, I had to leave!"

"That's not good enough Kate," I tutted, shaking my head. "Not good enough at all. I come back after a costume change and you'd just disappeared. Do you realize how that made me feel?!"

"Well I'm sorry I had to show your new roommate around the school."

"Roommate?!" I exclaimed, pushing Kate aside to jump in front of the bewildered girl behind her. "Hi, I'm Sophie Griffin! Fire spirit and mimic!" I introduced, shaking her hand violently. "I am so glad you're here! I've been wanting a roommate since forever! Come in, come in!"

I pulled her in, not sparing a chance to reply. I barely noticed Kate give a small snicker as I attempted to speed clean, throwing as much rubbish as I could get my hands on in the bin and attempting to make the place look at least a little presentable. Unfortunately, there was nothing I could do about the scorch mark on the table. That day I learned to practice my abilities outside.
