Y/n Pov-

It's been about a month since the war began and Felix had to leave, and about two weeks since he's stopped writing I don't know why he's stopped he just has. There's been talk around the town that boys who have gone into the war have disappeared, no ones sure what's happened to them some believe they died but so terrible that they weren't recognizable others believe they fled from battle. But not Felix, he couldn't have. He would have told me if he was going to flee, he would have told me where to met him so we could be together. I sat solemnly sewing together the sleeve of a ripped dress when a bell was rung signaling an announcement. I ran to the tower in hopes that news would come about the disappearing boys. In the center stood a man on a stand ready to speak and a man next to him holding out a large piece of paper.

"Listen here I have news from the war!" The man shouted drawing in a large crowd.

"I wonder what he has to say." Said a woman near me.

"Ya think it has to do with the disappearing soldiers?" Said another as I pushed through the crowd.

"Here with me is a list of the dead and the missing whom we presume are dead." The man said while the other unrolled the paper and I heard gasps and some woman start crying. I inched closer towards the sign I wasn't taught to read but Felix taught me to write his name and mine along with a few other things. As I got closer to the list my eyes scanned down it and I noticed something I had been dreading since I got here. I saw his name. Holding back the tears I asked the man pointing above his name.

"What does this mean sir?" To which he replied.

"That's the list of the missing ma'am." He said and that's when I let the tears fall. Felix, my Felix's name was among this listed as missing and presumably dead. I ran with only one destination in mind, the field or more specifically our tree were the fields met the forest. As soon as my hands hit the farmiliar bark I sank to my knees, paying no mind to the mud socking my dress. I couldn't hold it any longer I grabbed the ring that hung on a string around my neck and screamed out as tear fell down my face. The only reason I had stayed here was for him, that he'd come back. I've stayed with these people for this long, they didn't care about me and I knew it yet I stayed in hopes of him returning and now he may never. The sun began to set as I heard the farmiliar call of my "mother".

"Y/n! Where have you gone? You have yet to finish your chores and it's almost supper." She yelled harshly. Reluctanty I got up and walked towards our cottage.

"Look at you, you nasty girl all covered in mud! There will be non of that in my house wash up and change then hurry up and make dinner." She barked at me before slamming the door in my face. I walked around to the well and washed my hands and legs with the freezing water before going to my little shack on the side of the house and getting changed. I went inside and prepared dinner, quickly sneaking some into my room so I would have some food before calling everyone for supper. My "family" came down the stairs by now my "sister" was living of with her husband while one of my "brothers" was living near us on his own farm with his family. "Mother" and "father" took their seats as I served them then Liam came down and sat at his spot while I served him food. I was about to leave when "father" called me back.

"Now Y/n, " he paused at I turned around. "did you think I'd leave you to starve?" He asked this surprised me because he usually couldn't care less if I ate or not. He threw me a piece of stale bread.

"Here now off with you." He said as he sent me away. I ran to my room using my soup to make the bread more edible before laying down and falling asleep.

Hope you liked it!
