How can I go to school when I keep stressing over life? More importantly, keep my grades up. It's pretty hard being a sophomore.
I currently work two jobs. One in the morning at Wendy's, and another after school in the library. They don't pay much, but it's better than nothing. I have a year, but Angel's condition could easily get worse. So I want to get enough money as soon as possible.
It's barely my first class and I can't focus. Why does school have to be so uninteresting?
The door abruptly opens, revealing a blond wavy haired girl. She is about 2 inches taller than me. And I consider my 5'6 height tall already, so she appeared like a giant to me. She wore fashionable clothes that matched her ocean blue eyes. I could tell she was snobby. I pray I won't have to acquaint myself with her. Some people already think I'm "too good for them" because of my looks, and she would only deepen that rumor. "Mrs. Esperanza (my last name) will you please show Lauren around the school when class is over?" Asked Mrs.Jane
I thought, Why me? I don't want to do this. This is stupid. Me being the teacher's pet replied in a perfect-almost fake tone,"Of course Mrs.Jane."
I look around for any empty chairs in the classroom because I know that's where she'll sit. And BAM! Of course the only open spot is next to me. Life never wants to go my way does it?
Even though it's annoying it can't be too bad to sit next to this girl. As she approached her new seat, she glared at me as if I took the last cookie in the cookie jar. What is up with this girl? She quickly turned her head in the opposite direction of me as if showing that I was basically a peasant to her.I was wrong. This was going to be horrible.
Class had finally ended and I was waiting outside the door for Lauren. Where is this girl? She's probably taking her sweet sweet time. Finally she had stepped outside the classroom. But she just kept walking. I had to speed walk just to catch up to her.
"Lauren", I shouted, expecting her to stop. But she didn't. What is wrong with this girl? Not caring anymore, I grabbed her hand and flipped her body to face me.
I thought I had seen her face, but it felt different this time. Her eyebrows were almond brown, and she had plump lips. They reminded me of the fat pillows that you buy for looks. Her face was also a bit red, as if she was sick or something.
"What is wrong with you?" She almost shouted. Her eyes looking me up and down with curiosity. They had finally settled on my eyes.
"What is wrong with me?" I said retorically. "What is wrong with you? I'm forced to show you around and you give me this kind of poop." I blushed when I said the last word. I wasn't keen on saying bad words because my mother hated them. So I was forced to use their nicer counterparts.
"It's fine. I'll find my own way around; I don't need a poor girl like you to show me the way." Lauren then walked away as if the interaction never happened.
How did she know I was poor? I dressed and acted regular. Not like it was a big deal though. She could be just bluffing. Either way, it was not the end of the world.
The rest of my classes went by quickly, and lunch had finally come. I was able to join my friends John, Kaylee, and Max. They were the only people that truly knew me not by my "image". John and Max were the hottest guys at the school. Kaylee was the beauty among the seniors. I was a puny little sophomore, but apparently they took a liking to me and I did to them. So we cool.
You could tell our lunch table was only reserved for the cool kids (not trying to be cocky though). Some juniors and seniors were trying to muster up the courage to approach us with the idea of sitting next to us. Don't get me wrong, I like making new friends, but I hate fake people. The fake ones usually approach me. Our relationships never last because well they're FAKE!
"So anything new happen?", said Max curiously as he fixed his dirty blonde hair.
"Any new love interests?" asked John with a stupid grin on his face. He knew I didn't have the time for a relationship, but he asked especially to bug me. We have a love-hate relationship. Although it leans a little bit more towards the hate.
"Come on", said Kaylee defensively, "You know the answer to that" a huge grin also grew on her face.
"Hey! I thought you were defending me", I said jokingly with a hint of anger. Kaylee was an awesome friend.
Then, she showed up and sat at our table like she owned the place.
