It was as my imaginary friends and I were riding home from my friend's house, and I was in the car with my mom, sad because of all that was going on, that I received the message. I had sent 2 or 3 DMs on Twitter to Monica, asking if she was coming back and telling her I was upset she was leaving. But I never expected the message I got.
"Monica is a 61 year old man."
There was more to the message, but I was unable to see anything other than what was on my screen because I wasn't connected to wifi. The wifi chose that night to stop working, so I desperately hooked up the wifi of the woman who had stolen from us, who had given us her wifi months back and forgotten about it.
I read the DMs, explaining that Monica had actually been a man, tricking me online and making me think he was a girl and that he had been lying the whole time. I didn't believe it at first. How could I? Monica was my BEST FRIEND, and she had to be real.
I told the person who was sending the message that I didn't believe them and that they had to be lying. When it was clear that they weren't lying, I asked who the person was who was telling me about the 61 year old man. She responded, "I'm his wife."
The wife went on to explain that the man had been leading me on for a year and making me think he was a girl my age, and who liked the stuff I liked. Come to think of it, the person HAD always seemed overly agreeable, and it was almost impossible to disagree with them.
The person had gotten his computer confiscated by the police and that was why he wasn't online, because something had happened to get him in huge trouble. But I didn't ever get an explanation as to what he actually did. The wife wouldn't tell me but said it was pretty bad. I was very upset and shaken, and couldn't even cry. I was in complete and utter shock.
My best friend had never existed.
The next day, I woke up next to Mrs. Dolly, who I had slept next to and who was comforting me because she knew what happened. I think Brienna had told her the night before. Mrs. Dolly was so sweet to me and she acted like my big sister and she knew how sad I was.
I was okay but not really. But I had to stop being sad for another two days because my imaginary cousin Lisa was coming and I would be going to Ms. Scarletissa's house with Anabelle. I had to be happy so I could have fun. I did have fun swimming with Anabelle in Ms. Scarletissa's pool, and being at her house. Then I went back home and I didn't have a lot of time to worry about "Monica" because school was about to start.
School was about to start and my imaginary friends and I would have no online best friend to talk to about any of it.
