Since then, I figured out Amanda was a catfish, or creepy person, online, who wasn't who she said she was either. This happened in February, a few months after I had found out Monica wasn't real. Something in one of our conversations was odd, because something she'd said made me think something wasn't right, like she was lying. Even though we had voice chatted and I had seen pictures of her, I had never seen her on live camera. It made me suspicious.
So I asked her to take a picture of herself holding a unique phrase from a song we both liked, and she wouldn't. She didn't reply after that. About an hour later, her so-called "fiancé" sent me a DM on twitter saying that Amanda had decided not to be my friend anymore because I had "questioned her identity". That only made me more suspicious. He didn't care. He didn't seem to understand that I needed proof that my friend was real, so that the same thing wouldn't happen again. But they ended the friendship with me, so I never knew whether she was real or not. My belief is not. If she had been real, she would have understood that I needed to have absolute proof that she was real and not a creepy guy. Come to think of it, I think her "fiancé" was a creep, too. I think he wouldn't post any pictures of himself because he was an old man. Amanda, I believe, was a fiction this old man made up who was based off of a real girl named Amanda from Facebook (would explain the pictures). He took a girl named Amanda's pictures off her Facebook and used them on twitter to "prove" her identity. That is what I believe. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I think my guess is pretty close to the truth. I probably will never know. Maybe I should take this to the tv show, Catfish? Haha.
But after that, I made sure to Skype (with video) any friends I made online who could be potential "best friends". A lot of them agreed to Skype and I know I can trust those people. If I can't see them on video, I can't be best friends with them.
