A New Member! (Fairy Tail FanFic)

Ch. 2

When Rain came back, she had a key in her paw and Wendy immediately offered to show us the way, so long as we made a pit stop at another house so she could grab her clothes. 

"Follow us," Wendy said as Carla, again, sprouted brilliant white wings similar to Rain's. It was a bit weird to see her and Rain with wings, but it was quickly becoming normal as Carla gently lifted up a smiling Wendy without trouble and Rain did the same. With a quick stroke of their wings, both cats shot into the air lifting us high into the full moon starry sky.

"Hold on tight!" Rain said excitedly as we watched Wendy and Carla fly ahead. Before I could really say anything, we shot forward spinning around and cutting flips. I gasped in fear, folding my arms around myself and clenching my eyes shut. "Ashley, look at the view!" Rain said in my ear, her awed voice making me crack my eyes open and let out a small wow at the glittering city below us. 

"You okay?" Wendy asked, laughing as I grinned at the exhilarating feeling rushing through my body. I looked over at her and realized what had just happened, and nodded with a small smile still on my face.

"Yeah, I've never felt so...so..." I started trying to find the right word.

"Amazing?" Wendy asked laughing as Rain spun in the air. I shook my head, that was close but not entirely the word I needed. 

"It's like I'm free," I told her and looked over to see her nodding in agreement while Carla gave me a look of approval. 

"C'mon, the dorms are just over that hill." Wendy said, pointing to the West of us where I could dimly make out a hill with a giant tree on it. 

'...'...'...'

"Glad to see you guys finally made it." Someone said from a doorway as we landed in the massive yard, the cool wet grass tickling the tops of my ankles. I spun around in shock, not expecting someone to be there and saw Erza leaning in the doorway. I tensed and felt the smile drop off my face as Rain let go and landed beside me, letting out a small sound of surprise and disgust as the wet ground met her paws.

"Welcome to the Fairy Tail Girls Dorm!" Wendy said throwing her arms open as I looked up at the building that resembled a giant house with a welcoming atmosphere. Slowly, I walked inside keeping a close on eye on Erza, who followed behind me. I was amazed at the room I had walked into. There were comfy seats everywhere with pictures, books, and a fireplace along one wall,  while another large doorway led into a kitchen on the far left and a staircase leading upstairs was to my right.

"What room key did Mira give you?" Erza asked us and I looked at Rain who pulled out the small silver key.

"Looks like room 36," Rain said holding up the small key. Erza nodded not really looking at the key for more than a second.

"Wow, that's right next to Erza's rooms. C'mon! I'll show you." Wendy said excitedly as Carla sat down with a book. 

"How about a bath first?" Carla asked from her perch on the top of a chair with a book. Erza nodded her head in agreement, saying something about the upstairs as she walked past us.

"Here, I'll lend you a set of extra pajamas, they should fit you." Wendy told me and grabbed my wrist. I jerked back reflexively, moving away from her before I consciously thought about it. 

"Uh...sorry, the bath and showers are downstairs." Wendy said and slowly walked over to the door I had missed before to show a set of stairs that led down. I followed her down after a few steps, looking back over my shoulder to see Rain and Carla quietly talking and wondered if it'd be wrong to ask her to come with me. 

"I must be crazy. I want a cat to follow me to a bathroom." I thought to myself and shook my head to free it from the thoughts and looked around at the steamy room with a bit of surprise. The floor and walls were decorated in dark granite blocks that were worn smooth from water and age. A massive pool ran along one wall, the water silver from heat and whatever smell that had been added to it. A set of lockers ran along the wall by the door, Wendy kneeling in front of one and pulling out wads of clothes and humming to herself while I turned around to look at the row of shower heads and stools along the wall behind me.
