Before Islam had reached the soul of Umar (R.A), he lived as an Idolizing feared man- meaning he worshipped the Idols (their 'gods' at the time). But, what were to except of him? Nothing yet, for he was amongst the feared Quraysh tribe.
Definition of the Quraysh Tribe- Quraysh were a powerful merchant tribe of the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century. It controlled Mecca, where it was the custodian of the Kabaa, the sacred Pagan shrine and destination for pilgrims that became Islam's most sacred shrine.
Umar (R.A) Lived,slept and ate among the Quraysh, therefore he was as angered as the entire Quraysh tribe and their fellow idol-worshipping people, when the message of Islam had spread like quick-fire and day by day people were either turning to islam or turning away- the message had STILL been spreading.
Soon after, the person behind all the rush,excitement and escape for truth- was found. 'The Man' was none other than our beloved Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) . To top of all the anger Umar and the Quraysh Tribe already had, they had thought their ears were deceiving them- when Muhammed (P.B.U.H) who was born into the tribe and shared the same blood, had automatically became their newly found opponent and enemy.
Not every single member of the Quraysh tribe had been angered, infact leader of the Tribe, Abu Talib ibn Abdul-Muttalib- the Prophets dead father's brother and Uncle had felt the burden he had now carried, But the amount of love and respect he had for Muhammed (P.B.U.H) could never be broken despite the hatred his people had for him.
When the Prophet Muhammed (P.B.U.H) received revelation's after revelations and began inviting more and more people to the religion of Islam, Umar (R.A) did not hesitate to warn people of the religion Islam and harm Muslims at any opportunity given.
