"Marie, I want you to meet, Doctor Stephen Strange," the ancient one introduced.
Rogue gave her a look, "please, just stick with Rogue."
"Your apart of the Avengers. I've heard of you." Strange said making her look at him, "Marie? Is that your real name?"
"Please, just call me Rogue," she told him hoping he'd listen, "and I am but right now I'm trying to make allies of others for what is to come. Others like," she gestured to the magic around her, "all of you. So it's nice to meet you, Doctor Strange," she shook his hand with her gloved one.
"Okay, Rogue," Strange nodded before he continued, "Rogue? What does it stand for?" He questioned curiously.
"Why does it have to stand for something?" Rogue asked crossing her arms.
"It doesn't. I was just. Well. I..." He trailed off, "nevermind."
"Rogue, Doctor Strange is our newest student of our magic. Why don't you show her what you can do?" The ancient one ordered.
"As in taught, you mean being thrown in Mt. Everest and if I don't figure out the magic I freeze to death?" Doctor Strange asked.
Rogue looked at the Ancient one who is grinned at him, "essentially," she spoke and Rogue just chuckled.
"Are you going to teach her yourself?" Strange asked.
"What?" Rogue asked confused.
"I mean, why else would you let her in? You only seem to trust people who want to learn, so... I assumed that you would teach her," he explained.
"Only if she wants to learn will I teach her. I do not force people. She does have the potential. But to do this... I'm afraid she'll lose her powers that she wasn't born with." She told them.
"What powers? My telekinesis?" Rogue asked.
"Yes, those and your enhanced senses."
It had made sense finally.
When she was able to hear the phone call between that Agent and Sam, the conversations, everything! How she was able to tell the air was getting thicker when no one else could in Sokovia excluding Steve.
"So I have a choice between learning this magic while losing my telekinesis and enhanced abilities? Or to keep them and not learn?" Rogue asked.
"Yes," The ancient one said.
"I have to talk it over with Steve- Um, Captain America. He's the leader of the Avengers. I have to talk to him first." Rogue told her.
"Go ahead, no one's stopping you."
Rogue headed outside, she called Steve. He answered almost immediately, "hey what's up? You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah... Uh, I think so..." She answered unsurely, she sighed. "Steve I found something... It's incredible. And new. You wouldn't believe it."
"What is it?" Steve asked.
Rogue thought of what to answer. "Magic," she said unsurely again, "I don't know what it's called but... I met this woman. She knows about my past. And my present. She knew about the X-Men. She said she was there. In that world before..." She looked down, "before it was destroyed."
"I'm so sorry, Rogue. I didn't know..." Steve said sympathetically.
"No one did. No one. But her." Rogue said back a bit of resentment in her tone.
"How? How is it possible? What is she?" Steve asked.
"I have no idea, honestly. But, she offered to teach me. And maybe if I say yes, I'll find out more. And Steve, these people could really help us in the war to come." Rogue explained.
"I don't see the problem here. If you trust her, go for it." He told her.
"If I do this... I lose my telekinesis." She spoke.
Steve stayed silent processing this for a second, "I... I can't make this choice for you. The only way for us to know if they could really help is if you know the extent of this... Magic. It may just be the only way. But, I will never force you to do anything you don't want to do." Steve explained.
"I know you won't, that's why I like you," Rogue told him a smile on her face.
"Oh, I was wondering are you and Sam still doing that kind of thing?" Steve asked.
Rogue blinked, "oh no, we figured that out ages ago, uh, yeah I don't do relationships, not with my powers, it wouldn't be real," she explained, she remembered what Sam told her and she wished he could be right but what is a relationship without a kiss or a touch or any kind of intimate contact.
"You deserve one," Steve told her, "sometimes I think I don't deserve one either, because of everything that happened, the part of me that wanted a relationship and a family, I sometimes- okay all the time think died when I went in the ice... Is that bond worth it? When we are like this, Avengers fighting for the survival of the world, where's the time for a relationship or a family?"
Rogue smiled down sadly, "maybe one day we'll both find that time."
"Maybe."
She felt like she had to lighten this up honestly, that got really personal, "but, hey. I'm doing well for myself at this time, I'm going to learn this new magic and maybe I'll finally be stronger than you for once." She joked.
"You were always stronger than me." He told her.
"Of course, I was. Hey, save me a drink for when I get back. I want to celebrate our new allies." Rogue says.
"Yeah, I look forward to it," he responded, "when are you coming back?" He asked.
"After I learn. I promise I'm done looking. These people they are all we have here on Earth. I'm not searching through space for galaxy guardians and ghouls," She promised.
He laughed, "of course not. Talk to you later, Rogue." He told her.
"Yeah, see you when I get back." She said before hanging up. She sighed running her hand through her hair. She missed him... Them. So much...
